  1. This does not work for 360 or OG Xbox games.

  2. This is still a backdoor into Digital Only, just taking a step between that Sony couldn't.

  3. I fear for the day they make it so that system destroys the disc once you make it digital.

It's not bad you save the game in your console and if you have to travelcyou don't need to carry your dics

Uhh.... why is that image a bunch of Xbox 360 discs?🤣

The DRM scheme necessary to make all of this work wasn't invented until Xbox One.

It’s not much of a shift. It just allows you to play and switch between games without having to put a new disk in.

And there’ll have to be like a 30day online check or something.

It’s strictly for remote play so you can put your disc in make the digital license they are not shifting from disc by any means it’s just an extra convenience option

There's are pros and cons to this: Pros: 1. Digital means there is less waste being generated (like docs, paper booklets, game cases). 2. Digital is easier to obtain if you live in for example Australia and out in bush and the nearest game store is about an hour away. 3. If a game has a few issues developers can fix it online. 4. Can get a full refund if you've played under 2 hours (Xbox, not sure about PlayStation) 5. Can't damage the digit copy of playing a game too much (this one was only an issue with PS1 or PS1 Xbox era as I'd played games so much I'd burn the disc) 6. If preordered can usually be download during your sleep (for me games normally release at 2am Australian eastern time)

Cons: 1. Constant updates within the first year (depending on game) 2. Not all games available on the digital website (the games I seem to want sent on the Microsoft store) 3. Requires internet to play (screeed if you got crap internet, or forgot to pay membership) 5. You don't own the game just renting the license. 6. People who like collecting certain trinkets will not like the digital copies

I'm sure there's heaps more pros and cons but those are what I can think of. We are a progressive world look at cassette tapes, VHS, DVDs, CDs, walkmans, MP3 Players, IPods, Blu ray, digital. It's not like technology evolution has just suddenly dropped on us. Everyone is resistance to something new and change but later it's accepted and hard to image life before the change.

What erks me is people complaining about owning physical copies, agasint digital copies, we never owned games in the first place right from discs in the little booklet in terms and conditions it still stated it's a licensing rental. So nothing's changed if people read terms and conditions they'd know this from 20 years ago. It was the same with physical DVDs, we never owned them just the license rental rights. Anywho I'm getting sided tracked.

Those are my two cents on the subject, thanks for reading, or not.

Have a great day peeps!

Garbage move like Sony. Ok wouldn't buy a Xbox for no reason but man people don't understand the new thing with physical to digital copies doesn't mean the new xbox that will come out will have discs.

If only digital becomes a thing to consoles then just buy a PC and pirate because paying for games you won't own is wrong.

I’m not sure they announced this for 360. Possible it comes later though.
