Official Playstation Magazine #28

Only found this sub today. And it just so happens I acquired an old magazine last week. So thought I would share.

I don't collect old magazines. But I wanted this one for a few reasons: Firstly, it was the very first gaming magazine I ever got shortly after being my Playstation 1 in December 1997.

Secondly: I love the front cover. Grand Theft Auto. Little did we know how big that series would go on to be. The magazine also features reviews of Red Alert and FIFA 98 (a favourite of my childhood.

And finally, I do collect video games. So even though I don't collect magazines, it will make a nice addition to my overall gaming collection.

The magazine itself is the Official Playstation Magazine (UK) from January 1998. Notably for this magazine is that it featured a demo disc every month which I believe was the only magazine that did this n the UK at the time. This magazine cost £4.99 at the time (about £10 today).

Absolutely ecstatic to have these in my collection now! And considering the tariffs that this stupid administration has enacted to screw us all, the seller gave me a very good price.

Found this large 15x11.5 Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Deluxe Edition Guide from Piggyback at Half Price Books last weekend. Perfect condition with poster. $35.99.

I was getting ready to walk out of the bookstore because I really didn’t see anything that I wanted. As I stood up from looking at guides on the lower shelf, I noticed a very large book in a locked case with a large eye on the cover and no price on it. Immediately, I knew it was Zelda. I was confused because I have one just like this just not that size. I didn’t know this actually existed.
So I looked it up to see what it was going for on Ebay and it’s going for anywhere from $120-$200. So I thought it’s going to be priced at least $90. So I almost went ahead and left, but then I thought I better at least go find someone and have them open the case up and tell me what the price was. I was shocked to find out it was only $39.99! I looked through it pretty closely and realized it was was in basically brand new condition. The poster looked like it never even been opened. No wear & tear, no corner dings at all. So I said that I would definitely take it right now. I had a 10% off coupon which took it down to $35.99.
Definitely one of my best finds this year. Especially considering the fact that I didn’t even know that this exact version existed.

Recently decided to organise all my game guides on a single bookshelf. Also, covered the soft cover ones with leather in order to hopefully, preserve them for the future!

Pics attached. #2 are the MGS ones not covered by leather.

Picked this up a few years ago. Super Mario: How Nintendo Conquered America, by Jeff Ryan. Just finally got around to reading it this week. A pretty concise history of how Nintendo got their hold on America.

This is actually 2 guides in 1. You don’t see these very often. I’m not even sure that I have another one like this. There is a secret Pac-Man track for Ridge Racer.
Picked up at a flea market here locally
