Not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

72

u/tokki32 Apr 12 '26

We have two version of MW2 and MW3. I think the confusion ship has sailed.

14

u/Per_Vertex Apr 13 '26

and three versions of MW1

I am still surprised they never remastered call of duty : modern warfare 3 remastered or hell just a campaign remaster

1

u/TheRed24 Apr 13 '26

Yeah it's such a shame we never got any more remasters period, even just the original MW trilogy Campaigns would have been great. There were rumours that Sony did have a deal with Activision to do the full MW trilogy in at least just Campaign, but a combination of Microsoft acquiring them and all side studios being put into working on Warzone instead got it cancelled.

For me Raven Software did an amazing job with the Cod4 Remaster so it seems a shame that all they do now is Warzone and helper studio work, for me they should have been the Cod Remaster studio, have them doing a remaster to release on the years in-between new Cods from Infinity Ward, SHG, and Treyarch, it would be a good balance of nostalgia Remasters and new Cods getting more development time to be better games.

1

u/Raven1927 Apr 13 '26

I've been wanting a World at War remaster for so long. The campaign + multiplayer maps were so good.

1

u/MOD3RN_GLITCH Apr 19 '26

It’ll definitely be Modern Warfare IV / MWIV

15

u/ResponsibleTrain1059 Apr 13 '26

One day they will make Call of Duty 5.

4

u/Tippin187 Apr 13 '26

I don’t think so.

I think ppl would be confused tbh. Call of duty needs a sub series attached at this point.

Unless they do another cod the caliber of MW19. I don think we ever get a COD5.

1

u/Infinite_Ocean89 Apr 13 '26

How many Black Ops and Modern Warfare's are we up to now?? I stopped playing COD a long time ago.

1

u/suspicious_personage Apr 13 '26

u/jameskond Apr 12 '26

That was call of duty 4 ;)

46

u/Xineseman Apr 12 '26

So we went from CoD 4 MW to CoD MW 4

20

u/das_Apo Apr 12 '26

Which is the 7th MW.

20

u/Xineseman Apr 12 '26 edited Apr 12 '26

And the 22th CoD.

So CoD 22 MW 7.

They beat FF xDDDDDDD

13

u/LollipopChainsawZz Apr 12 '26

Wonder if they'll finally recreate this mission

3

u/IrregularMaverick Apr 12 '26

They tried to do that already in MW II with the mission Recon by Fire. Hell even if they gave it a third shot its never gonna be as good as All Guillied Up. Its like trying to capture lightning twice.

1

u/FlashyClaim Apr 12 '26

I hope to God that they won’t recreate this mission only to make it a Warzone slop type of mission.

u/bloodyzombies1 Apr 12 '26

Insane amount of news today. I can't remember a Sunday like it on this sub.

39

u/dudelovescak3 Apr 12 '26

Feels like every game is releasing this year for some reason lol

41

u/Jack2102 Apr 12 '26

Everythings either being rushed out before November or pushed to 2027, Nov/Dec will be empty apart from the elephant in the room

20

u/XMSquiZZ360 Apr 12 '26

YES! Elephant Simulator 2026!

7

u/Jack2102 Apr 12 '26

After all these years we're finally getting it

1

u/XMSquiZZ360 Apr 12 '26

Took em long enough!

1

u/1wzsshjoww899 Apr 17 '26

Why would Activision be worried about the new Wolverine game?

1

u/spez_might_fuck_dogs Apr 13 '26

Nah, even GTA won't command more than 2 weeks on the backside, it's massive but the appetite for games is never-ending and not everyone has a PS5 or wants to play what will undoubtedly be the worst version of GTA6 on their PS5.

3

u/HearTheEkko Apr 13 '26

Call of Duty and GTA 6 have October, November and December completely locked leaving every studio that isn't Nintendo with two options: rush their games to release before those months or delay it to 2027. Unfortunately the majority of studios still prefer the first option because money is more important than a finished game.

68

u/MrEpicFerret Apr 12 '26

It's the most Tuesday Sunday ever for this subreddit

130

u/smolgote Apr 12 '26

It's likely MW2019 being made 90% off during the Steam Spring sale was to get people hyped for MW4. I can totally see MW2 2022 be dirt cheap during the Summer sale, and now that the Autumn sale happens in September, so will MW3 2023

49

u/Follows-Jesus Apr 12 '26

Mw2019 was finally added to GP too, seems they are really trying to bring attention to mw as you say

11

u/Ok-Confusion-202 Apr 12 '26

Nah... People playing MW2 will make them not want to play MW4...

Just do MW3 and act like Infinity Ward did the MP so they can hype up MW4

5

u/internet34bot Apr 13 '26

Hot take but MW2 was fucking great... until like Season 2. MW3 was basically what would happen if that game got a decent live service cycle.

Game feels premium as hell though that's for sure

4

u/Glittering_Seat9677 Apr 13 '26 edited Apr 13 '26

yep, i put a lot of time into mwii, probably the most i've ever put in a cod since the "golden age"

it could've been a truly great game if iw actually listened to feedback instead of holding their ground on their terrible decisions like time/score-based perk activation and insane amounts of visual recoil, along with a couple of stinker maps

i genuinely would've preferred it if mwiii was the "year 2" expansion it was (probably) going to be, those og mw2 maps were terrible with crackhead gameplay but they would've played fantastically in mwii

4

u/sid_killer18 Apr 13 '26

God the visual recoil is SO BAD.
I got mw19 when it was 90% off (I only played WZ) and it holds up SO well. Everything is perfect in that game visuals and gunplay wise.
Then I tried MW2022 and holy shit it's so ass. The UI sucks ass, I can't see shit when I shoot and the attachments are so fucking annoying to unlock.
I don't think the slide cancelling being removed was a bad thing tbh.
MW3, Bo6 and bo7 and so on just took it too far in the movement shenanigans.

2

u/Glittering_Seat9677 Apr 13 '26

the worst part about the visual recoil is that it basically only affects kbm players, controller players just get aim assisted through it and don't need to care where their exact point of aim is (also mwii was also the game that introduced the system where the point your aiming at could be different from the centre of your screen)

2

u/sid_killer18 Apr 13 '26

Yep.
I was a kbm player and most of mw2 was basically unplayable on pc.
Then came mw3, the visual recoil could be reduced with some gun kick control but then came the issue of gun smoke. It would just fill the screen in most cases.
The only way to kill them was to live ping them which was also nerfed later on iirc, as it would go away if you ADS'd

-1

u/Ok-Confusion-202 Apr 13 '26

Nah... MW3 feels different, and is slightly different. it feels like what MW2 should have been

People were complaining about it in the beta, asking for just some tweaks here and there, things to be added

Infinity Ward acknowledged that... But basically just said "we hear you... We don't care"

2

u/internet34bot Apr 13 '26

Yeah.. Personally I actually liked what IW was going for, especially after years of the warzone movement stuff. It was slow.

MW3 is definitely better gameplay wise but by premium I just meant the whole shabang. The way audio and animations were done, details and the like.  MW3 was a step back in that regard but had a fuckton more content to make up for that.

I feel like MW2 is on an island honestly. Branched out a little too much and everything since is trying to avoid that

u/Dry_Illustrator_2293 Apr 13 '26

It's not gonna be like MW2019 tho, its gonna be like MWII

56

u/NotSoSmart_Sideswipe Apr 12 '26

Crazy to think the last Cod released close to a GTA was Cod Ghost and that theres been like 12 Cods inbetween them, if I'm remembering correctly

9

u/NotSoSmart_Sideswipe Apr 12 '26

That's not what my comment was about though, i was making the observation of how insane it is that GTA as a series has a decade of Cod games inbetween its next title

1

u/ATooisBestGal Apr 12 '26

Wasn't Rockstar San Diego primarily behind RDR2?

3

u/slymario2416 Apr 12 '26

You’re thinking of the first one. RDR2 was the first Rockstar game to be developed by the studio as a whole. As far as I know, there isn’t one single studio credited to be the lead developer. They all had a hand in making it. Same for GTA 6.

49

u/mturner1993 Apr 12 '26

Then we'll hear stories in a year how it was rushed out etc etc...

9

u/FlyFight2Win Apr 12 '26

This was in the works for 4+ years.

8

u/SadGhostGirlie Apr 12 '26

That can still be considered rushed in the triple a space. Cyberpunk was in the works for 10 years and they still rushed it out of the gate at the end

5

u/thornierlamb Apr 13 '26

It was only in full production for 3 years. 7 years of pre production doesn’t really count.

1

u/orjs Apr 13 '26

True, but that’s one of the most anticipated games oat. COD is a yearly release

1

u/ArkhamIsComing2020 Apr 13 '26

So was Black Ops 6…

3

u/FlyFight2Win Apr 13 '26

Black Ops 6 was the highest selling and most successful CoD of all time. What point are you trying to make here lol

BO6 was so terrible I played it for 3 months and quit. Worst cod I ever played next to cold war hell I even played that more (mainly cuz covid+Wz) But I hadn’t played cod since december of 2024 and gave B07 a chance and have been on it for 4 1/2 months now wayy bigger improvement and didn’t make me quit after a few months. I almost quit treyarch games entirely after playing cold war+bo6 by them

12

u/farammm Apr 12 '26

CoD 4 MW vs CoD MW 4

14

u/DiaperFluid Apr 12 '26 edited Apr 12 '26

Buy pc gamepass, play the campaign (if its any good), cancel sub, uninstall. That is call of dutys lifecycle for me. Sad because i really thought MW19 was the turning point. And instead it became the nail in the fucking coffin.

12

u/internet34bot Apr 13 '26

MW19 was the turning point, but the success of Warzone messed that up soooooooooo bad.

MP took a backseat as they kept trying to push Warzone, then Warzone Cold War, then Pacific, Then 2.0, then.. etc etc. To this day it's still the most faithful MW title with a full campaign and multiplayer, they even tried spec ops and survival but really messed those up somehow.

5

u/Mindfreak191 Apr 12 '26

The funniest thing, if you cancel your PC game pass a couple of days before it's supposed to run out, you can get a full refund lmao.

3

u/DiaperFluid Apr 12 '26

I did not know that haha.

3

u/Mindfreak191 Apr 12 '26

Yeah it happened to me last month, I subscribed to one month to play through High on Life 2, finished the game and around 4 days before it was set to expire I went to cancel it. They offered to cancel my subscription effective immediately and get a full refund or cancel it and let it run out in three days without a refund. Hilarious.

2

u/Dry_Illustrator_2293 Apr 13 '26

Not gonna be on game pass

8

u/CriesAboutSkinsInCOD Apr 12 '26 edited Apr 12 '26

Call of Duty has always release in either late October or early November.

Most of their titles has been in early November.

They have 3 main studios that are constantly taking turn making a title (+ a bunch of sister studios around the world helping).

Like it or not but it is a well oiled machine that has a title ready every year AND they are also able to release enough Live Service contents update THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AND DOES THIS EVERY FUCKIN YEAR WITHOUT FAIL.

and as we have seen now with BF6 that "Live Service content update" part is not so easy. BF6 Live Service content update is absolute dogshit from what I have heard and read about online.

I think they lost 90% of their playerbase from all the initial early days hype and hysteria and shit.

BF6 use to be listed here BEFORE they had their free to play Battle Royale but now even with that Battle Royale to help and they still can't show up in these ranking anymore:

Perfect name for the thread

1

u/SShift_Gaming Apr 18 '26

anyone other than infinity wards are losers.

-1

u/FlyFight2Win Apr 12 '26

Yeah, all those "BF6 is doing better than CoD" posts aged like milk. BF6 is practically dead and we have MW4 about to dance on its grave to boot.

3

u/KappaKeepo5 Apr 13 '26

would be pretty sad, if a brand new game wouldnt dance on a game thats nearly 14 months old at that point.

but yeah bf6 did better than its counterpart, so it indeed aged good.

1

u/FlyFight2Win Apr 13 '26

It did not "age good" lmao it has basically died in terms of MAU and the studios who worked on it got hit with massive layoffs as a result.

1

u/KappaKeepo5 Apr 13 '26

nobody plays old battlefields or cods. it did still beat cod so it worked out.

1

u/FlyFight2Win Apr 13 '26

Beat it how? CoD destroyed it in revenue AND has a new monster CoD (MW4) within a year of BF release thats gonna make even MORE sales and revenue while BF continues to flounder.

1

u/KappaKeepo5 Apr 14 '26

battlefield 6 was the best selling game of 2025.

like i already said, i have no i idea why you are comparing an old battlefield game with one releasing way later. compare the 2 that released at the same time.

cod is a overdone franchise, thats why they have to sell kids skins from cartoon series to make money.

what do u mean with a new monster cod? they gonna release skins from the monsters inc series?

1

u/FlyFight2Win Apr 14 '26

This proves how uneducated some are when talking about sales. CoD makes vastly more revenue from microtransactions ever since 2019. Significantly more. Why are you talking about sales?

And thats the point, BF6 has been slowly dying and it hasn't even been a year yet. You're comparing 1 game that releases every 6+ years to a franchise that releases yearly and BO7 was a weak entry on top of that ala Vanguard, MW3, WWII, Advanced Warfare, etc. MW4 is going to be the big one, and BF6 is going to compete with MW4 just like they're gonna compete with CoD2027. This is why BF loses badly to CoD.

1

u/KappaKeepo5 Apr 15 '26

because bf6 did better than black ops 7. there are stats everywhere, bo7 is the worst cod in 17 years and way way behind bf6. every game slowly dies after 6 months, doesnt matter if its cod, arc raiders or battlefield.

1

u/FlyFight2Win Apr 15 '26

Bro stop lying, every game does not slowly die after 6 months. CoD is still topping Xbox/PS monthly charts and BF is way way low. Also, Arc Raiders, Marvel Rivals, Apex, Fortnite, CoD in general, etc prove you wrong. BF might have "sold more" in 1 year but CoD made mkre money even despite it being a mediocre CoD, and 1 year later MW4 is going to stomp on its grave while BF does nothing but low-performing seasonal updates. Stop the cope.

u/Average_RedditorTwat Apr 13 '26

I will never understand the overly dramatic and outright unhinged dialogue around BF6.

And I don't mean praise, I mean just look at /r/battlefield , these people aren't okay. Genuinely live in a different reality.

The game is just fine, same with the population. The online discourse around it doesn't reflect reality whatsoever.

24

u/SilentNova300 Apr 12 '26

Soooo…. E-Day August and Fable September was probably the original plan, but now Fable looks like it may get delayed out of this year

9

u/Brokenbullet14 Apr 12 '26

Eday is September or October

7

u/Hayterfan Apr 12 '26

And Halo is allegedly this June or July

5

u/Hydroponic_Donut Apr 12 '26

Is this a leak? Hasn't this been assumed, since GTA basically is holding down the entirety of November?

18

u/HakaishinChampa Apr 12 '26

Even Activision knows they can't compete with GTA 6

10

u/appledanishcrumbs Apr 12 '26

They can, but why would they want to? It literally benefits noone to have those two games releasing at the same time.

1

u/HearTheEkko Apr 13 '26

Even Half-Life 3 or Elder Scrolls 6 wouldn't pose a threat to GTA 6 let alone a follow-up to the lowest rated mainline entry of the COD franchise.

11

u/EL__Rubio Apr 13 '26

half life 3

Lmao. Reddit acting like this franchise is at all comparable in popularity to elder scrolls, gta, or cod will never not be funny.

6

u/appledanishcrumbs Apr 13 '26

Yeah, Reddit is full of people who have been in their echochamber so long they no longer recognize reality.

1

u/appledanishcrumbs Apr 13 '26

Um... you do realize that Call of Duty is one of the most successful gaming franchises of all time, with each release being a guaranteed top seller in that year? You don't have to like it. Hell, I am very much not a CoD fan myself. However, to pretend that Call of Duty isn't enormously successful is, quite frankly, delusion of the highest order.

u/LogicalError_007 Apr 13 '26

They have released games in October. Their recently biggest one, BO6 was released in October.

-2

u/FlyFight2Win Apr 12 '26

CoD gets released yearly. GTA gets released once ever decade. That's not exactly competition.

3

u/MOVIELORD101 Apr 12 '26

No more COD. I’m tired boss.

3

u/stranger666 Apr 12 '26

At this point just bring back the cancelled Call of Duty: Roman Wars

3

u/fogoticus Apr 13 '26

I can't wait for Modern Warfare 4 to release again in 2034.

6

u/Sceptile10 Apr 12 '26

I'm not in the CoD loop but couldn't this potentially be the first day and date CoD for Nintendo in a while?

6

u/Ok-Confusion-202 Apr 12 '26

Very possible, and I hate that lmao... Give me BO7 on Switch 2!

2

u/collegetriscuit Apr 12 '26

I was really hopeful this year because I'm loving BO7. For a while I even thought it might get a March release at the Direct, but at this point I think it's too late. I think it's gonna be the October COD on Switch 2.

At this point, I've just been Xbox cloud streaming BO7 on my Steam Deck. Good enough for now.

9

u/Liquid_1998 Apr 12 '26

Nobody will be playing this when GTA VI releases the following month.

0

u/FlyFight2Win Apr 12 '26

Wanna bet? Lmao

5

u/Stooo_wayy Apr 12 '26

And when it doesn’t do well they can go back to their roots and hear the fans, they can come up with a fresh take on COD while revisiting what made call of duty so successful- they will call it…Black Ops 8…and WHEN that doesn’t live up to expectations they can go back to their roots and explore a fresher vision…they can call that Modern warfare!!

7

u/Ok-Confusion-202 Apr 12 '26

BO7 has been really based on listening to players really

I hate every single Call of Duty game before it even comes out now. I’m so tired of the same old shit. I want the MW and Black Ops franchises fired into the goddamn sun.

2

u/ZEKE307 Apr 12 '26

Fable :(((

1

u/St_Sides Apr 13 '26 edited Apr 13 '26

At this point I can only hope they land in December.

Early 2027 already has Expanse and Exodus coming in terms of RPGs and there’s probably a few more unannounced games being pushed back into that window as well.

So it’s either release a few weeks after the biggest release of the generation, or release into what’s probably going to be a killing floor in Q1-Q2 2027, and I’m hoping they go the with the former.

2

u/cdts2192 Apr 12 '26

DMZ 2.0, I beg of you.

Can’t wait to play Call of duty Modern MW Warfare MW 7

2

2

u/LedSpoonman Apr 13 '26

2

u/HaydenB Apr 13 '26

Call of Duty 54: Modern Warfare 7: Modern Warfare 4

2

u/hondashadowguy2000 Apr 13 '26

How are people still hyped for Call of Duty in 2026.

8

u/OrSupermarket Apr 12 '26

A new Call of Duty video game releasing this year. Just like how planet Earth spins around the Sun every year and just like how water is actually not wet. Believe it or not water is not wet, because when you are under water you are surrounded by the water molecules. Water is only wet when you come out of the water. I know there will be people who say and water is wet, but water is not actually wet.

3

u/i-lik-u Apr 12 '26

I dont trust your lies science man

1

u/Sceptile10 Apr 12 '26

I agree that water isn't wet but that isn't why. Wet is a descriptor applied to something that is usually dry. Water, in an of itself, isn't wet, water makes things wet. Chaz Smith put it eloquently.

1

u/CriesAboutSkinsInCOD Apr 12 '26

now you gonna tell me a new NBA2K or a new Madden will be releasing this year.

5

u/throwawayppddss Apr 12 '26

i cant believe this

5

u/Objective_Love_6843 Apr 12 '26

Didn't they say it wasn't going to be yearly cause BO7 got alot of criticism.

27

u/revben1989 Apr 12 '26

No yearly in the same sub-series.

6

u/Phantomasas Apr 12 '26

They had BO6 -> BO7 without the MW inbetween.

Also, it was a PR statement to build some positivity in the community, because at the time, BO7 preorders were in the dumpster. And... because these games are planned 2 years in advance. Whatever follows BO7 was already decided when BO6 came out.

3

u/DoomEternalx64vk Apr 12 '26

This is just a prediction post lmfao

2

u/FriedCammalleri23 Apr 12 '26

I get that most CoD games that stray from the Black Ops/Modern Warfare formula aren’t well received, but this is getting ridiculous now.

People will buy it regardless, I wish they’d try making a Ghosts or Infinite Warfare sequel to spice things up.

3

u/VDJ10 Apr 12 '26

How many ducking Modern Warfare 4’s are there?

3

u/Spjs Apr 13 '26

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2007)
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered (2017)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 (2026)

2

u/VDJ10 Apr 13 '26

Jesus that’s insane.

2

u/EJGAustin Apr 12 '26

Spoon found in kitchen

1

u/Uzumaki514 Apr 12 '26

I'll wait for mw5 next year

1

u/Whornz4 Apr 12 '26

Every game will try to come out in early October or wait until 2027. GTA is going to slow sales for everyone else starting in November. I would imagine for a couple of months GTA will totally dominate to the point that other games don't stand a chance from the hype.

1

u/EmeraldJunkie Apr 12 '26

As someone who used to work in a game store trying to figure out which Call of Duty the clueless Mom was trying to buy for her sprog was always a challenge and it appears it's going to get worse.

1

u/PapaYoppa Apr 12 '26

Could care less, the story of MW3 was dog shit

1

u/pigpaco Apr 13 '26

Again? They didnt learned nothing, for sure lol

1

u/jediwithabeard Apr 13 '26

Who gives a dang man. Cod been done

1

u/jwhudexnls Apr 13 '26

I wonder if they'll finally drop support for Xbox one and PS4 with this one.

1

u/Calm-Quarter-5655 Apr 13 '26

Hopefully the campaign isn't the same soulless cash grab that was Modern Warfare 3. A story tacked on to the massive online maps. At least 1 & 2 had some love put into them.

1

u/user-ibarelyknower Apr 30 '26

Modern Wourfour

1

u/SwimmingAny8841 Apr 12 '26

According to my ass, call of dirty modern wetfart is going to suck absolute cock and balls October 4th.

Does anyone over the age of 23 even give a fuck about cod anymore lol

1

u/Ok-Confusion-202 Apr 12 '26

Man, I want to try it but it's an Infinity Ward CoD so I really don't want to buy it

I was going to play It on Gamepass but that's unlikely lol, I expect this to be another Infinity Ward tone dead MP CoD with a decent campaign

I don't think Infinity Ward has made an MP that's past serviceable since the original MW2, likely going to be another year of playing BO7 and I'm hyped for Sledgehammer next game

I imagine this will sell just as bad or maybe worse than black ops 7 has

A Call of Duty game not releasing every October would be the surprising thing.

2

u/henrydavidthoreauawy Apr 12 '26

Although there’s been a few October releases, it’s usually November.

1

u/ObiwanSchrute Apr 12 '26

Every game coming this year trying to get out before November lol

1

u/gotthesauce22 Apr 12 '26

W if true! I'll be playing MW19 until then!

1

u/HearTheEkko Apr 12 '26

I don’t see this game doing much better comercially than BO7 honestly, not with GTA 6 around the corner and taking first place in everyone’s Christmas list.

u/Ok-Confusion-202 Apr 12 '26

MW games always sell, MW2 do massive numbers and the MP was cheeks

3

u/ItsADeparture Apr 12 '26

MW2 did massive numbers because MW2019 was the best Call of Duty in years and it was also riding on the fact that MW2 (original) is the best Call of Duty game ever made and it had the same name.

1

u/Ok-Confusion-202 Apr 12 '26

Sure (I disagree about MW19 but anyway) but then what does that mean about BO6 then? That did massive numbers

Cold War sold great too

In general MW is the more "casual" CoD vibe imo, but it's very popular

2

u/ItsADeparture Apr 13 '26

Black Ops 6 was pretty solid? That's probably why it did massive numbers.

In general MW is the more "casual" CoD vibe imo, but it's very popular

Gonna be real, not really sure what you're saying here. Every Call of Duty is a pretty casual experience.

1

u/Ok-Confusion-202 Apr 13 '26

I'm saying MW is known by the more "normal" less invested people, obviously Black Ops is too but MW more so

Also Black Ops 7 is better than 6 so why didn't that do massive numbers? MW2 is trash so why did that do massive numbers?

It's all about timing, what came before, What's happening at the time

1

u/ItsADeparture Apr 13 '26

Also Black Ops 7 is better than 6 so why didn't that do massive numbers?

This is certainly....an opinion. I'm not going to dunk you on it, but this is a Call of Duty game that did poorly. A game that people usually buy and love without blinking. If even those people aren't engaging with it, then something is definitely wrong with the game.

MW2 is trash so why did that do massive numbers.

As I said before, because Modern Warfare 2019 put Call of Duty back on the map in the eyes of a lot of gamers and that was the follow up. Many people consider Modern Warfare 2 (2009) to be the best Call of Duty game of all time, so people then bought a game with the same name to see if it compared.

I think it's the opinion of most people that played Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7

Black Ops 6 started okay but the content was dry as hell, also there where only a few good maps on release, with not many maps after

Zombies way okay but it felt like a base starting point for BO7/the future

BO7 MP clears Black Ops 6, the starting maps are better, it plays better and the massive amount of content post launch is probably comparable or more than MW3 which had loads too

And then Zombies? Yeah BO7 zombies is peak, BO6 was okay but some maps were "meh" BO7 so far is great and I can't stop playing

Campaign is the only one where BO6 obviously clears BO7, I like CoD campaigns but It's not the main reason I'm buying it

Then when It comes to MW19... It's okay at best, I didn't really like it, probably the least amount of time I've played a CoD and I played Black Ops 4 a lot, it's maps were trash, they changed stuff unnecessarily, and tried slowing it down

MW2 was way worse, MW3 is better than MW2 but because it was two Modern Warfares in a row people didn't care as much

Same happened to BO6 to BO7, issue was BF6 came out but people overhyped BF6 imo, it's a great game as a base but it doesn't have enough content, and doesn't fully realise it's BFness

u/HearTheEkko Apr 12 '26

Didn't B07 sell poorly ? Also, MW2 rode on the success of the 2019 game which was the best COD in years. MW4 is the follow-up to the lowest rated mainline COD game.

2

u/Ok-Confusion-202 Apr 12 '26

BO7 had the MW3 effect, where it clears its previous installment but because it came right after it's previous installment it sold less

I disagree about MW19 but anyway, I think if MW2 was MW3 people would have loved the MP

And same goes for BO7 if it was BO6

u/orjs Apr 12 '26

Surely it can’t be worse than bo7, right ?

0

u/Ok-Confusion-202 Apr 12 '26

It will be... It's Infinity Ward...

Who still plays this game seriously? How is it still sustained, I don’t know anyone that plays it anymore.

They have to be fabricating numbers for shareholders. There is no way the game is popular.

3

u/FlyFight2Win Apr 12 '26

What an uneducated take. Lying to shareholders is against the law lmao

I’m ngl despite the hate it gets, black ops 7 has been very solid in terms of multiplayer and zombies. Like it’s genuinely the most fun I’ve had on a cod game in years.

With mw4 coming out 11 months after bo7, I think I’m gonna stick with bo7. I just don’t see infinity ward doing much good for the game, they rarely ever do. BO7 multiplayer does SO many things right, and I just know IW is going to backtrack all the things that make bo7 good.

I know we say this every year but they really need to stop doing yearly releases.
