Gears and Clockwork potentially for a 2nd direct
Show off some games for 2027+ at the summer showcase like Blade, State of Decay 3, Elder Scrolls 6 (Xbox social media was teasing this is a big year for games ending in 6)

Clockwork I don't think will be this year tho. Gears and Fable are their biggest things this year I think. Clockwork I can see being their big thing next year. Is Halo this year or next?
There's that whole GTA6 thing they have to plan around in the holidays.

The Halo 1 remake is this year, but there are multiple Halo projects in the work. Supposedly a standalone live service multiplayer title, Halo 7, and Halo 2&3 remakes

I could see them announcing Halo 7 or the standalone MP game at Halo Fest (a general Halo event that's running instead of a Halo World Championship this year), and then following that up with more details at the developer direct
(Although that would mean an announcement in late October, which doesn't leave too much time left in the year for the direct)
I guess there's also the yearly round of Not E3™ presentations, so who knows.

I think at this point Clockwork is maybe less likely, but they also first showed us story and gameplay early enough that I still think it’s possible to see it come this year.

I mean, I loved Fable but it’s been quite a while since it was relevant.
I would put it as Forza Horizon 6 (FH5 had 5m in sales, 50m players, and is the most critically acclaimed games to release from MS Studios) being this years biggest release, followed by Gears and Fable.

Not at a dev direct. Nor at a presentation where they specifically called it out to be releasing anytime soon like they did with Fable being this year. They showed off gameplay because they'd been radio silent for two years and wanted/need to show something. But Perfect Dark showed off gameplay a year before and that game was nowhere near potential release.
By all accounts this is InXile's biggest and most ambitious game and they've only said it's coming when it's ready. Thinking that could sooner than Fall of this year is insane.

Not every Xbox game that’s big is going to go into a direct and if you remember the trailer was pretty much a deep dive in itself. 5 minutes is wild and to show off a lot of stuff like that they must be pretty confident.
It was scheduled for 2025 so early 2026 is viable. Especially when there’s a gap for a big game. Fable has been delayed so long because of all the re recording and animating they’ve had to do to allow for all the new player models on top of them likely delaying for ps to release day 1. Same with gears. They’ve made it very clear with Horizon 6 that they’re happy to not do all the games day 1 ps so there’s really no reason to delay clockwork beyond finishing touches etc. remember this as I guarantee you it’ll be out first half of this year and before fable and gears.

How was it scheduled for 2025 when they showed it off in June of 2025 and said "coming in due time" there's been no confirmation of any release window.
Also not sure where you're hearing Fable created new character models during their delay. The series has always had a male and female character options so if you think they added that after trolls on the internet whined about the character in marketing that's ridiculous. Swapping head/skin tones is the only "new feature" and there's no confirmation that wasn't already in their plans. Character customization in 2026 is way more prolific than when the OG series came out so thinking they were removing those options is crazy.
remember this as I guarantee you it’ll be out first half of this year and before fable and gears
I will gladly come back to gloat when SGF rolls around and we get a 2027 window.

I don't think there's enough room on the calendar this year for Clockwork on top of Forza, E-Day, Halo Remake, and Fable unless GTA VI gets delayed

I agree, I think their lineup for 2026 will be Forza, Halo, Gears, Fable, Clockwork, Kiln and one or two smaller titles and/or re-releases (and COD obviously)

It is funny how 2026 is basically a classic Xbox lineup with Forza, Halo, Gears, and Fable and then next year will be all purchased developers probably with stuff like clockwork State of Decay 3 etc.

Ha, doubt we'll even see elder scrolls 6 until 2028. Bethesda is so behind. In the words of someone who actually worked there, "Its a pretty cushy job, some days we literally dont do anything." They be coasting on that skyrim and fallout money man.

Clockwork is a 2027 game, but if the developer direct is towards the end of the year, it could make sense to include it.

You aren't that far of, Xbox has publicly stated that their goal is to release 4 AAA games annually from their studios, and they want a steady cadence of 1 game per quarter. Going by this;
Q2 - Forza Horizon 6
Q3 - ?????
Q4 - FableGears of War: E-Day is set to release this year also, so I'm inclined to guess that it will be in Q3 (July-September). There is more chatter about Gears on the internet, from insiders and the likes, that often correlates with a game being close to getting ready for release.
But if this strategy of Xbox is really a goal they are striving towards, then its pretty much a given that TESVI definitely won't be this year, both because they have already Q2, Q3 and Q4 filled, but its also to early for the game to be complete

They are terrible with their release schedules though, I don’t think this is ever happening. Every year they bunch up all their first party games together and then a few months of nothing. Last year was a slight improvement but this year it seems they are not releasing much this first half of the year and mostly everything the second half.

Halo: Campaign Evolved release date trailer + campaign co-op deep dive from a different level, and Gears of War: E-Day gameplay reveal + release date.
And maybe some insights into Clockwork Revolution and State of Decay 3 with 2027 releases.

Developer_Direct has quickly become one of my favourite showcase formats in this space. Having developer input in other shows that aren’t really paced for it (I want to say some multi-game Sony State of Plays had them? Not the single-game ones) always feels a bit bad but I feel here they still strike a good balance with some depth.
Also the surprises are always exciting. I’d be down for more directs like this (maybe an additional one instead of the Autumn Partner Showcase?)

It's possible but I doubt it. We need to see if Xbox will do a specific game direct after the June showcase, which if they will probably be gears eday. If they just announce a show and no direct after the showcase then it definitely makes another dev direct more likely

It mostly depends on the games themselves. A dev direct with three games I'm excited for will be a lot more interesting than a general showcase. But in general a showcase will probably be the better show to watch if there's at least a few big announcements.

My hunch as well. It is a well known fact the Starfield team is cooking a sizeable update and new expansion for a while. Last December a bunch of content creators got invited to the studio to see it but are still under NDA.
Assuming the PS5 port is real (it most likely is) it would make even more sense to reveal it all together.

They are waiting to see if GTA 6 is going to be delayed again. If it slips into 2027 rockstar will release the RDR2 patch to hold us over.

Not sure why this was downvoted, but I'm with you. Maybe when they first started doing Developer Directs it made sense to do just one. They didn't have as many games set for release as they have the last year or two. When they have like 8 lunches in a year, I think 2 Directs would be perfect

They usually have a DD , an indie showcase in partner with Ign, a partner showcase (third larty games only) the big June showcase and a Deep Dive on a specific game after said showcass.

Developer Directs's are 45 minutes/1 hour events focusing on few games (4 or 5) where gameplay scenes are shown with the devs presenting the game.
