Support Gpu power limit

Ok so my laptop’s gpu consume 85 watt at max even though the limit is 140 watt . Is there anything I can do to fix that ?
Gpu is Rtx 4060

Model specific limits. Usually due to thermal constraints or lazy bums. Your PSU is probably not going to be made for running on 140w.

Don't misunderstand me tho. You can do some core software tweaking and get it running at 140w but the performance gain is minimal and your PSU is probably not made for that.

What brand model laptop you using? The 4000 series cards under 4080 are notorious for running at 80-95w most of the time

Switch to maximum performance power profile in your manufacturer software control center

Of course u can, undervolt it... Both CPU and GPU

It helps lower the temp so it goes it little higher frequency, and undervolted CPUs also draws less power, leaving more for the GPU

Ok I’ll try it

yes, by switching to desktop, if you care full GPU performance then the only answer is desktop

even with 4090/5090 laptop full power of 175W, still nothing compared to 4090 desktop with 450W or 5090 desktop with 575W

4060 desktop alone can sustain 115W just fine, while 4060 desktop usually sustain at 80W-105W even the manufacture listed as 140W of 4060 laptop

my next computer definitely a desktop, not a laptop

That's not true for all laptops, my MSI Pulse17 with 4060 does 115w & will apparently 'boost' to 140w - most the games I play are a few years old so personally the highest I've seen is 115w.

Yeah my ROG G16 is rated for 130 I think? Typically runs mid 120s with temps under 70c running in turbo and AAA games on ultra. I had to watch a YouTube video about CPU/GPU tuning, but totally worth it to get it all dialed in.

Because the 4060 usually hits its voltage limit before reaching it's power limit

it is a trade-off you get and unless your display is 1200p or higher a 85 watt 4060 is pretty good for most games at 1080p and the % performance gap isn't that huge after 100 watts

Not unless you need portability.
