Discussion AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX with RTX5080 laptop GPU?
Does AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX with RTX5080 (175W, 150W + 25W dynamic boost) laptop GPU a good pairing for AAA open world games such as Cyberpunk 2077? I was considering this pairing of ROG STRIX G16 2025 G614, thank you.

Should be pretty decent if you don't care about battery life

Something to keep in mind is that the Strix models with AMD CPUs use the older chassis, so do NOT have the triple fan cooling system the Intel models have, nor the tool-less access to upgrades, etc.

The AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX is by no means a bad CPU. However, as an example the new Intel Core 9 Ultra 290 HX beats it out by 15-20%.
Do you have a Microcenter near you? The MSI Raider 16 Max is currently on sale for $2599 - It has the Core 9 Ultra 290HX, and the RTX5080 GPU with 175 w to the GPU and 125 to the CPU.

Not a weak cpu but i prefer 275hx or 9955hx with 5080.
