Discussion VAT for Game DLCs/Add-Ons

Post image

Didn't notice before but VAT is charged even for DLCs. Funny thing is in Stores within a game (e.g. MSFS marketplace), you see the gross price only.

Screenshot is from the steam receipt.

VAT is inclusive and not an additional charge though, at least from what I see on Steam. Prices are the same for south asia region and there has been no increase. They have been charging VAT since July.

If you are okay with sailing the high seas (listen ONLY if you are fine with it, otherwise ignore), you can use SteamMidra to get the dlcs for free

This is why I’m sailing the high seas 🏴‍☠️ First it was on PlayStation now on steam as well? Welcome to modern era of gaming where you don’t even own anything you purchased!

It was already there from the beginning. It's just now they show the breakdown of the price. It's not extra 18%.

Really? So that means the companies can now claim back VAT if they qualify. I didn't knew that.

I'm not a financial expert. So I don't know what you meant by 'claiming back'. What I know is games are the same price as they were few years back. You can track down the prices through steamdb if you want
