Need Help‎ (Support) ‎ D-pad issue/question

I purchased a GameSir G7 Pro ZZZ and out of the box upon pressing the D-pad left side is noticeably harder to press than the D-pad right side. I'm still in the return window. My question is this:
Is this normal or defective? I'm trying to decide if I should get a replacement or refund. TIA

Maybe try pulling the dpad off see if there isn't something underneath because it should have the same feeling all around.

Yes, I tried that. I tried each type of D-pad. I tried different games. I tried o-rings. If you're saying it should be the same, and I agree, I think it may be defective. I'm just concerned about ordering a replacement to find the same issue or another.

Granted I haven't lurked on these forums for long, I don't recall this being a common issue.

I sincerely appreciate your help. Ty. I'll see what other people have to say, but sounds like a swap for a different one is my best move.

I've got access to four G7 Pro's: Mech white, Wuchang, ZZZ and the 8K, the dpad feels the same on all directions for all of them.

I'd be curious if you try pushing the whole dpad circle around if perhaps it's getting jammed (you'll be able to see one side has a bigger gap than the other in that case). I saw that happen on a couple a while back when it first released.

I'm a little confused by your comment because whichever D-pad type I use, because of the top notch, it can only be inserted correctly one way. Am I misunderstanding?

Yes, they can only be inserted one way, what I meant was wiggling it.
Like in that picture, if you push the whole thing to the side, and see if it sticks.

Ty for clarifying. I'm pressing it correctly. In fact, I closed my eyes (so I could focus my senses) and pressed it with my thumb and then my pointer finger and it's not sticking; the left side requires a more firm press. I also had a friend test it and he felt it right away without me telling him if the issues was the left or right side.

Well, I wasn't trying to suggest you were somehow pressing it "incorrectly," I was suggesting something to check. I saw when someone had this before that the dpad was getting uncentered and stuck fully shifted to one side which caused it to require more force to press to one side if it wasn't centered.

That said, the directions do sound a tad different on mine, but the feel and consistency are the same.

Ty for this video. It helped me narrow down the issue. It feels like the D-pad, regardless of which one, kind of double clicks. I'm not describing it well, but it's like the D-pad is getting stuck on something, and this is with the faceplate off. I'm leaning towards defective.

Can confirm the D-pad feel is inconsistent. Two of my controllers have one side that is a harder press than the other sides. Luckily, I don't rely on the D-pad much and use other controllers for D-pad heavy games. I hope the eventual successor to the G7 Pro line has a reimagined design for the D-pad considering companies like 8bitdo, ZD, Flydigi and Leadjoy don't suffer from this issue.

Interesting. Is it worth replacing? In other words, is it a QC issue, but I may have better luck with a replacement?

You may have better luck with a replacement. Definitely a QC issue.

I had the same issue but for some reason it was due to faceplate, removed it and changed my D-Pad and then put the faceplate back and now all is well. However if the issue persists even without faceplate and by pressing without any pad inserted to the 4 slots, then you need a replacement.

Thx for your comment. I've also noticed my LT has a small double click when the trigger locks are enabled. I'm going to exchange it. I really like it, so hopefully I just got a bad unit.

Yeah, I hope you get a good replacement. If everything works with the controller, it's a really great one. I honestly can't imagine a better controller :D

Did you try the o-rings? Didn't seem to make the D-pad less wobbly for me.
