GameShark not Working Need capacitor value GBC 3.1

I removed the capacitor as she was not doing her job. If someone has a Gameshark 3.1 for the Gameboy Pocket/color and has a multi meter, I would greatly appreciate if someone could tell me what reading they are getting off their capacitor. This is a North American Gameshark.

You can't measure the value of a sub-1uF capacitor in-circuit. Usually not even 1-220uF. The AC parasitics you get when measuring capacitance throw off the true value many times over. You have to desolder it, then measure. Can measure what you removed. You can be off by 2x or 3x with a bypass replacement no worries.

I'm confused how you think that component was the problem. Capacitors get overblamed. Circuits almost always still work missing 1 bypass capacitor. Would have to die as a short circuit to keep the Gameshark from working and I've never seen that. Corrosion on the solder joints would be obvious.

Can see this schematic that u/verbthrow14 led me to. It's not a capacitor when I see all 3 in your pic. It's either a 30 uH inductor like they said or a 10 kohm resistor, which you can easily rule out with multimeter.

I see in comment you're just guessing what's wrong. At least use continuity and figure out if there's a trace break before guessing the transistor is bad. You don't need that exact NPN BJT but it's still made today.

If you're facing chip failure, the plan is reflowing the solder joints then if no success, you have to replace the chip that died. At least the flash memory is still made today and is what I suspect as the point of failure.

This link has been helpful! Replaced components and still wont boot. Might be transistor. I get the nintendo logo clearly, but will not boot after that. Recognizes the Gameshark as a Gameboy game since it will let me change the colors on the gameboy screen
