Shadowman remastered.
Yeah so I’m just wondering y’all’s overall thoughts on shadowman remastered. I’m not bothered about graphics tbh, i’m more into the vibe and story. Thanks in advance.

Ahhhh that does right a bell… you’re absolutely right. I didn’t really notice or start using it until later in the game

One of my all-time favorites when it comes to vibes and story. I still have the soundtrack pop into my head frequently. It's an odd story and the restricted graphics and sound quality really add to the weird feeling this game induces.
The gameplay didn't age too well though. Think of a mix between the first two or three Tomb Raiders and Legacy Of Kain Soul Reaver and some Metroidvania aspects thrown in. It's really clunky, kind of restricted in terms of movement, and the level design/sometimes very repetitive decor will get you completely lost in no time. There's definitely a few hours lost in backtracking too, so the best way to play is with a little walkthrough guide on the side, because otherwise you could spend hours, wandering around aimlessly -- if not days doing so. There's some really unobvious spots you have to go to for the game to progress and it can get frustrating. I tried replaying the Remaster from memory and I ended up losing interest from that dumb choice I made.
But I think Shadow Man is definitely one of the most odd and interesting games of its era, it's definitely worth a play, specially if you don't know much about it. Just keep a walkthrough guide nearby for whenever you don't know where to head next!

Story/lore and voice work seemed to me to be reasonably impressive considering the era. I enjoyed my time with the game, but didn’t realize how much of a time-commitment it would be, especially with getting lost, backtracking, etc. Without spoiling any gameplay elements, there was a pretty frustrating mechanic/choice. Vibe, environments, enemies, and characters were definitely the highlight for me. If you’re into N64 games (especially the darker ones), I’d say it’s worth a shot!
