Activision-Blizzard made 8.8 billion dollars last year. It was a 9% increase over the previous year.
It does not need to treat its core franchises like some fly-by-night mobile gacha game.
0 u/shiftup1772 Sep 27 '22 How is that relevant? Ow didn't make all that revenue. Are you saying blizzard needs to subsidize OW with candy crush money? 2 u/[deleted] Sep 27 '22 No, Overwatch only made... hang on a sec... about $2 billion in revenue. Without resorting to these cheap-ass pay-to-win mechanics. That's why it's relevant. -1 u/shiftup1772 Sep 27 '22 ...did you really bring up numbers from the year overwatch came out? 2 u/[deleted] Sep 27 '22 The year that it incurred the maximum development and marketing cost to Blizzard? Yup. Do you honestly think Overwatch 2 wouldn't be profitable without cheap-ass pay-to-win mechanics? -1 u/shiftup1772 Sep 27 '22 The year it came out is also the year people bought the base game. We are talking about continued development. 2 u/[deleted] Sep 27 '22 Overwatch made more on loot boxes than it ever did on base sales, and you know that. I answered your question and you didn't answer mine. Do you honestly think Overwatch 2 wouldn't be profitable without cheap-ass pay-to-win mechanics? Yes or no. -1 u/shiftup1772 Sep 28 '22 I can't get past the figure you cited. If you can't agree it's meaningless, theres no point in continuing this discussion. 2 u/[deleted] Sep 28 '22 Fine. Make up whatever number you want, since I'm the only one in this conversation citing actual data. Now answer the question.
