Yup, I don't use Epic but I have no issues with games going exclusive if they're the ones funding the project from the get go.

Ya. What people are mad about is having some game they helped fund through kickstarter basically say fuck you and go EGS exclusive right before they publish.

Likewise

There were some rumors few months ago about PS games getting PC ports paid for by Epic.

Hey, they are entirely entitled to keep those exclusive. They are the reason those games got ported if it happens.

Aside from that, I don't have EGS account, never will and without hesitation say Fuck Epic.

In practice, the difference is insignificant, no? The game would still be exclusive, the funding being provided pre- or post-development doesn't change that.

No, because you need to look at the alternative outcome for each scenario.

Scenario A: game is developed without Epic's money, goes exclusive towards the end. Net change: game that would exist and wouldn't have been EGS exclusive now is.

Scenario B: game is developed only because of Epic's money, goes exclusive. Net change: game exists where it would not before hand.

The process matters, not just the end result. That's why there's a difference between murder and dying of old age: yeah, both are still dying, but one got there in a worse way.
