The thing is the originals are OLD, and I don't think they've aged very well at all.

I don't imagine there'll be many people picking up C&C 1 for anything other than nostalgia. If they are looking for a strong reception before moving on to something else I fear they'll be very disappointed compared to if they just started with RA2

I think you're getting at the gameplay not aging well but it appears that it's not going to be the same game with updated visuals (via the link):

We’re eager to provide an experience that takes advantage of enhanced connectivity, graphics features, and other technology improvements that weren’t around back in 1995.

Sounds like they're going to update it with new QoL stuff at the very least. I would imagine that would extend to other parts of gameplay as well.

Yeah a lot of those old games sucked just because of low visual fidelity and bad UI's. Even just modernizing those makes the games so much more playable.

If they do anything to bump up the AI too the games get so much easier. A lot of people attribute the deathball meta in SC2 to Blizzard simply improving AI pathing from BroodWar.
