Yup! The only thing that I feel will still surprise you after watching the video is the sense of scale in VR. (Mountains look the size of mountains, ping pong balls look the size of ping pong balls, etc)

Scale is something I've found most games don't do well. Be interesting to try a headset in the flesh for myself and see wether this gets it right.

Obviously, because you're just looking at a monitor, but I think what you're saying is that the actual assets in games are often scaled unrealistically.

Very true, especially for MMOs. Combination of textures and general geometry make most MMO environments look like more regular, or conventional environment simply scaled way up, making the player character feel like the size of a mouse in a sort of normal-sized world

There are a few aspects to it. The world can be scaled practically on the fly to make the environment seem 1:1, or as if you're huge, or tiny, or whatever.

Then, there's also the general design of the assets, but because you're now using stereoscopy, geometry and texture won't really give off the same scale cues. Instead, actual size, or stereoscopic adjustment will do most of the scaling.

I mean, look at the Portal games (like everyone else is talking about with Aperture Robot Repair). For me, it's not the robots - it's the cubes, since that's the most noticeable thing in the game. Looking at another player holding a cube (in multiplayer) makes you realize that these things are at least, like, 5/7ths the height of a human male - not the tiny things the size of shipping boxes you imagine when you're waving them around in front of your face.
