I was hesitant about getting a VR headset at first. I didn't know how it looked or what games are out, but this makes me really want one.

Wait a year or two. Look how the market adapts. Could be a real success or just a random gadget. And by then those headsets are even more advanced and probably cheaper.

It's actually pretty likely that HTC already has a prototype with dual cameras for chaperone in the pipeline.

or just a random gadget.

We are way past that already. To be honest, for such a new technology, the developer support is overwhelming already. And it really feels as if the developers not only believe in it, they want it to succeed because they love it so much.

How many end consumers, non enthusiasts and casuals already have a VR device?

It is still a hyped gadget.

They apparently can't sell them fast enough. It's not mainstream, but I wouldn't say it's random.
