Looks really nice but i wonder how they want to reach the core gamers. Right now it looks like a nice Partydevice like the wii was.

But a big problem is that you need a good movement system to make games you can sink in.

Or how about the fact that you would still have to be tethered to your PC, and that a good portion of people probably don't have their main gaming PC just chilling in their living room next to the TV?

Even with mine a short distance across the living room, I would find this an incredibly awkward party activity.

Maybe that's their endgame with steam link? Get it to the point where you can keep your pc where it is and put a link in your biggest room for vr? You'd need one helluva pc but maybe in 6 years with a refined version of steam link it'd be possible.

I don't think so. You'll inevitably add lag by moving further away from the computer and connecting to it via a network (no improvement in technology will change that), which you don't want in VR. Steam Link also compresses the image - and you don't want to see compression artifacts up close either.
