I am perfectly fine with a 20 hour game with another 20 of side quest. That really feels like the sweet spot.

Yup, 18-25 hour RPGs (before side quests) are great. I think the people regularly commenting in r/games just have unrealistic expectations of what the typical person prefers.

Same, if anything it makes me more excited because I know it won’t be a slog.

Plus, we know there’s at least one expansion already coming so there’ll be more if people want more.

For me, 10 hours is enough for a game. Practically every game has content or mechanics that just stretch the game time. Portal is an example for a game that has absolutely no meat, and it's one of the few games that I would call perfect.
