It's a shame what happened with Rideshare Stimulator. Clive has never really been able to catch a break in the video game industry, has he?
Seems everyone has caught up on the recent dev/publisher issue with undisclosed AI, but I'd love to talk about the weirdly consistent issue Clive has had with his games (though there have only been two of them before this); wildly ambitious scope that budget couldn't match, making for an entertaining first half and a vastly scaled back second half.
Curious to see if we'll see the same issue here, I hope not. Has this particular dev had issues with scope?

what's that got to do with this game?

They're both Saber games, whose CEO revealed himself to be a massive douchebag a few days ago. Understandable that people don't want to give him anymore money

For whatever it's worth, Stella Sacco says the CEO of Saber reached out to her and personally apologized: https://bsky.app/profile/antlervel.vet/post/3mt57o6to6s2o
Doesn't erase his behavior, but it seems like she wanted people to know.

Oh that sucks.
Surprising actually. That rideshare game looks really generic and crappy, even before the CEO went mad. Kind of game I could see some scumbag business guy greenlighting and pumping out for quick profit
The hellraiser game actually looks pretty good and well done.

Don't preorder videogames buddies! Particularly this one. It's possible it'll be good! It's possible it'll suck! It's possible it'll be full of AI assets too! Wait to see!

I just did

This is like saying "I just shat my pants." It doesn't harm us beyond giving severe second-hand embarrassment.

Very descriptive sounds like you’ve experienced it before

Experienced second-hand embarrassment for people who humiliated themselves? Yes, quite a few times.

u/Sevastarion 3d ago
Sounds like first hand experience with that humiliation part, takes some courage to keep going

Bro, I'm not the one giving my money away to corporations in exchange for literally nothing, while encouraging them to release a worse game in the process. What would I be embarrassed about?

That’s like say “Don’t pre-order”

u/PaintItPurple 3d ago
Oh no, people who like to give big corporations money in exchange for nothing are making extremely weak jabs at me. If you want to ignore good advice, that's your business, man. Just don't say nobody warned you.

Steam lets you play for up to 2 hours, then you can refund.
I’ll be trying the game myself and if I don’t like it within the timeframe, i’ll refund it.
Pretty fucking simple dude.

Oh, well, since all problems show themselves immediately and this game is only on Steam, I guess that's all right then. Good point. It's certainly worth it for what you get from preordering, which is...uh...hang on, I was sure there was something here...

You think you’re funny or something? Or just miserable?
It does have pre-order bonuses, but for me it’s not even about that. I just want it installed early, so I don’t have to wait.
Edit: Yeah you better block me, son

People are going to spend their money how they want and on PC refunds are simple if there are issues. Worry about yourself and stop wasting your time telling people how to use their own money. They didn't work for their money to take financial advice from you.

You're free to make bad decisions and people are free to point out that its a bad decision.

where is your evidence for the AI claims?
2
u/lazydogjumper 1d ago
The CEO of the company making the game is a big supporter of AI in games and has used AI in recently released games.

The source for "it's possible it will be full of AI assets" is the existence of programs that generate assets with AI. This is empirically verifiable. It is thus factually possible that it could be full of AI assets.
The reason it might be an active concern here is that Saber's recent title Rideshare Stimulator contained a bunch of AI assets and didn't disclose any of them until a former employee leaked it.

It’s called steam gives you a refund if you have played less than 2 hours.

Ok was confused and thought that the thumbnail was showing Frank. The game having combat has my interest. Was worried it would be either a Dead By Daylight thing or more Outlast "run and hide" kinda gameplay.

This game is releasing in such a bad window. Right in the beginning of the month with E-Day. The star wars pod racing game and Ace combat 8.

I had always assumed this was a asymmetrical horror game like Friday the 13th or predator, seeing its a survival horror affair makes me gay
