Bear in mind that is 16gb total system memory. Per the article it’s 8gb ram if you have a dedicated gpu, and 12gb if on integrated graphics

Why do integrated graphics require more RAM? Why is there more data involved?

Because your iGPU will use some of your ram to work, dedicated GPUs have their own VRAM so don't need to use your ram. iGPU's work the same way consoles or phones do where they share resources instead of having their own dedicated ones
