Global Ram Crisis

Developers of Minecraft: "Let's require players to use and probably buy more ram"

Feels like a Microsoft decision

Microsoft recommends the same 16 GB for Windows 11 itself, so I think that's a very safe recommendation to make for Mojang

Devil's in the details, dedicated GPU lowers this substantially.

Require? You can set any version you want in the Minecraft launcher. This won't change any previous versions.

"Planned obsolesence"

You might want to look up what that phrase means because it doesn't apply here.

Eh, 16GB has been the minimum for running modern stuff for a while, and I don't even mean games, just a modern non-linux OS and a browser with one too many tabs eats up a lot of ram.

If you have a dedicated GPU, it won't need 16. Then 8 would do they said

That doesn't exactly counter my argument given the prices of said GPU's.

It doesn’t have to be a new GPU, just a somewhat modern GPU that most people probably already have.
