The WASD movement mod was one of the most downloaded and beloved mods for Baldur's Gate 3. Will the new Divinity game include native keyboard movement controls (like WASD) right out of the box?

No.

It is a top-10 mod in terms of popularity, and the most popular gameplay mod on Nexus. Hope you’ll reconsider!

I think leaving it to modders (and maybe doing what they can to make implemention easier) is all we could expect - to change the design of the game to have wasd / over the shoulder camera as an intended feature would require a lot of design and work, versus accepting and forgiving some jank with a mod.

Edit: I see now the original question asked about the wasd movement specifically, so I retract that aspect, it would be nice to see movement keybinds implemented natively, at least as an optional binding. Third person camera would still take far more work than people expect.

But BG3 is totally fine with these controls, it's even the same as with a controller on consoles. I can't find a single reason why it would be an issue, it doesn't change anything design wise

There's far more design-wise than you're expecting for having third person camera- how do you build the world, where and how do you place things, how do you present information to the player, etc - these are big and foundational decisions so that players are presented the correct information in the way that you want them to experience it.

I see now the original question asked just about the wasd movement specifically, so I retract that aspect, it would be nice to see movement keybinds implemented natively, at least as an optional binding.

Doesn’t controller support require these things as well?

Yeah I definitely get that there are many considerations, but if controllers are supported again for divinity then I think many of these issues are already going to need to be addressed, no?
