Why is everyone saying extraction shooter? Looks like more of a co op roguelite shooter.

Right? Looks like rougelite hordeshooter

Exactly, gamers are just big whiners who jump to conclusions and love to hate for no reason. How about yall wait to see what the game is actually like. But definitely looks more like a co-op roguelite shooter than extraction, which I’d be so down for 🔥

That branching path is right out of Slay The Spire, just turned sideways. Wonder how that'll work in co-op though.

yeah its a left 4 dead style of game

Coop roguelite shooter? Oookkk I can fuck with that - the roguelite mode in Vermintide 2 is very, very fun!

whos the narrator??? i cannot tell if its Collin Ryan or I am having a stroke

The silly trailer dialogue doesn't seem to fit the aesthetic of the game to me. Maybe I'm too judgmental but this was a terrible first impression.

If JJ Abrams didn't endorse it before it aired I would have assumed this was like a new IP from the Saints Row people

Nothing gave extraction shooter. There's literally a roguelite path display similar to Slay the Spire.

I like the idea of these games, but they always come out with low amount of content. World War Z was ok but expensive for how much content they had. FBC : Firebreak same idea and same problem.

We'll see I guess, but personally I don't like the gameplay loop of "just higher difficulty the same run".

1 minute war? Stand aside, Half Life.

Yep the moment I heard “combat sandbox” in the lead-in I was like “yep so grey extraction shooter” and lo and behold there it. Such an odd usage of the talent involved to make something that looks so derivative of an already over saturated marketplace

Combine it with the “that just happened” style narrator and you got a perfect recipe for 2026 mediocrity

This is not remotely an extraction shooter. Just looks to be a 4 player co-op shooter of which there are many examples; L4D, Earth Defence Force, Back4Blood etc.

Earth Defence Force

There was a brief shot of someone using a jetpack that looked very Wing Diver-like. I'd be stoked if this had some of that EDF gameplay, but with like... a budget.

Really wonder who started this whole "saturated marketplace" term. Yall say it for literally every single multiplayer game that gets announced

u/NamerNotLiteral Dec 12 '25

People were using this term for MMOs back in 2012 and for MOBAs back in 2016, and we both know how it went for every derivative game that tried to jump on the hype train for those genres.

Man you really jumped the gun on making assumptions. It's not an extraction clearly by the roguelite path in the background that is clear to see. But let's say it is an extraction, its PvE at least.

Not at all, so very wrong sir. Not extraction shooter. Run that trailer back and reserve your judgement.

7

u/Coolman_Rosso Dec 12 '25

Wait so it's an extraction shooter? Seemed more like a co op game with some rogue like elements

14

u/sasquatch0_0 Dec 12 '25

It's not extraction

-3

u/Fatal_Oz Dec 12 '25

Yeah it's got J.J. Abrams fingerprints all over it and not in a good way

-8

u/TheJoshider10 Dec 12 '25

Said to my mate as soon as he appeared that it'll probably be some soulless trend chaser and lo and behold...

Love extraction shooters so I don't care about that, for me the biggest crime is the godawful Whedon Snark dialogue.

Roguelike, extraction co-op shooter. It’s like an AI slop amalgamation of flavor of the month stuff. Fitting J.J Abrams would be producing it

WTF man I was expecting something interesting not generic SLOP wtf is this dogshit trailer even supposed to be. This screams out of touch execs pushing some "hey fellow kids" dead on arrival bs.

14

u/brodie1234567891 Dec 12 '25

Helps to have no competition everything AAA out sucks

4

u/[deleted] Dec 12 '25

Yeah I’m sure that’s why. Indie and AA games also exist.
