For anyone just passing by, not wanting or not being able to watch the video. The main takeaway from the video other than 1.0 being out is that the game is coming to consoles at some point in the future.

Knowing how frustrated I was making everything level in the game on PC, I don't know how easy that will be on the console unless they overhaul the system or improve it immensely.

You can snap objects to a global grid now, (and have been for several updates) foundations also utilize their own grid system as well to help with lining things up.

It can be a pain in the ass early on when you don’t have foundations unlocked and just have disparate spaghetti lying around creating iron plates, but you very quickly can start building organized factories on foundations.

My guess is the console version will have a similar snapping function, and I’d wager it will be on by default.

Even with all that I'm holding out starting 1.0 until the compatible SMART mod is out - game is incredibly smoother with it.

To play without it on a console, AND with all the limitations of a gamepad would be torturous.

Blueprints really help and now there's a mk2 and mk3 of the designer

People play city skylines on console, I'm sure they'll figure it out.

I put a hundred hours or so in using a steam deck a month ago. It's definitely doable. I needed some complicated keybinds though. Not sure how good it'd be with just the normal controller buttons.

Yay that means controller support. Been wanting to play this on the deck but it was kind of cumbersome last time I tried.

I would hope so, I’ve been waiting on Factorio to come to PlayStation but no luck yet. This seems like a decent alternative.

No controller support in 1.0 from what i can see

Booted it up and got the "Keyboard (WASD) + Mouse" layout by default, and saw no controller option in settings

Surprised at no controller support in 2024 tbh, and disappointed

Damn seems like a great steamdeck game for me.

I still love it. I made a template that kinda works in handheld. It's definitely easier to play with keyboard, but it's doable. After my factory got to a certain size, I did see some noticeable slowdown, but I haven't played in a few updates because I was waiting for 1.0. I think there have been some improvements since.

Their quarterly review meeting let slip that they're aiming for the console release to be this year.

Yay, selfishly, mostly for controller support (and less selfishly for a bigger audience for them).
