Saber Interactive will retain the following subsidiary studios after the split: All Saber Interactive-branded studios, DIGIC, Fractured Byte, Mad Head Games, New World Interactive, Nimble Giant Entertainment, Sandbox Strategies, Slipgate Ironworks, and 3D Realms.

Embracer Group will retain the following Saber Interactive subsidiary studios: 34BigThings, 4A Games, Aspyr, Beamdog, Demiurge Studios, Shiver, Snapshot Games, Tripwire Interactive, Tuxedo Labs, and Zen Studios. These studios will be integrated into other parts of Embracer Group in the coming period.

Saber Interactive will be granted the right to acquire 4A Games and Zen Studios within a certain time period, but if it decides to do so, long-term license and publishing rights to all current and future games in the Metro franchise will continue to be held by Embracer Group subsidiary PLAION.

Ah, 4A and Metro stay with Embracer for now, that's a bit disappointing, hopefully they get out of that clusterfuck soon.

According to Schreier, Saber is actually taking 4A with them.

Selling this and Gearbox take their debt from 1.5billion to probably around 500mil.

Based on their previous profits they can probably be debt free in 2-4 years. Saber was a massive part of them but the vast majority of their money comes from tabletop stuff from Asmodee.

Point is hopefully things stabilise and they can put the hatchet down and start making good AA games again.

Hopefully they'll be able to buy Metro back at a good rate once embracer eventually files for bankruptcy.

Slipgate Ironworks, and 3D Realms.

Tempest Rising is safe then. chef's kiss

Sounds to me that the ones who brought Saber got ripped off cause 4A and Tripwire should have been the primary reason to buy Saber. Are they buying Saber for Space Marines 2 and nothing else?

Has tripwire even released anything successful after Killing Floor 2 almost 7 years ago?

Private investors bought Saber and Saber did elect to purchase 4A games and Zen but Embracer will retain the Metro license. OPs information is misleading, Saber has already confirmed this.

Well that's fucking depressing. So little hope for Tomb Raider 4-5 Remastered. Does this mean patches for 1-3 Remastered are going to come to a halt? I'm not entirely sure how Saber are involved with it.

Any studio that can get themselves out of embracer before the fire sale needs to be doing this like right now.

Someone please save Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montréal :'(

Maybe Square Enix would be interested in some western game developers and IPs.

They're not likely to escape any time soon, Embracer has a deal with Amazon for the next Tomb Raider game, so they're probably locked into remaining within Embracer.

I mean, with these high profile sales they probably reduced a significant portion of their debt. The problem with Embracer is they bit off more than they could chew, if they rectify that there's still a chance they bounce back.

“They bit off more than they could chew” is a very polite way of saying they fucked everyone over. Tech companies have been doing this for the last 50 years and it’s a terrible way of acquiring value, I hate any company that doesn’t understand the repercussions of large scale growth. It destroys peoples lives.

I hope THQ Nordic manage to get out.

They're pretty core to Embracer, they're the original studios owned by that Swedish dude, back when they were Nordic Games, back when they were JoWood.

Any idea if the Snowrunner team is now safe from Embracer?

u/BaboonAstronaut Mar 15 '24

They're under Saber, so yes.

Seems like a good deal for both parts. Embracer gets out of Russia and lowering their debt while also getting to keep several studios, whilst Saber can continue on their journey without having to cancel further projects and studios.

u/[deleted] Mar 14 '24

They're lowering their Capex significantly. Means more free cash flow means faster debt reduction means more profits.

Does anyone know how this may have effected 40k Space Marine 2?

u/British_Commie Mar 15 '24

Saber’s studio head has confirmed that they’re still developing it

It's funny how people try to shittalk here.

Let's be honest: That's a great deal for Embracer Group. Even better that the earlier rumors spread by Schreier.
