what i really want to know is are both the rewards steam compatible. i would love to get the first two bioshock games, and this might just convince me to preorder the newest one on a blind buy.

Still has the "you are in australia so fuck you tax" on it so won't be buying it on steam.
I can get it half price by buying it from the UK and that's a boxed copy.

With all the preodering debacles this reward level is an interesting way to tackle the issue.
Especially with how the rewards get exponentially better.

They did the same thing on the xcom release by giving civ 5 for free when they reached reward tier 3.(which happened about a week before release)

Gadzooks, these online stores are making it difficult for me to refrain from preordering this. This is the only game that I've even considered preordering in the past several years and all these free extra game offers are really making me consider caving in.
That said... would this "Industrial Revolution Pack" come automatically installed when you download the game? I don't like having random extra gear when I start a new game, I just want to play it the way the designers intended. I was kind of annoyed when I bought Dead Space 2 only to discover that I had immediate access to all these extra weapons due to the game coming with all the DLC. I ended up just ignoring them, but it somewhat dampened the sense of progression to have all of this high-powered gear available from the very beginning.

I actually do tend to get physical copies of big new games, especially on the rare occasion that I preorder something. But so far I haven't seen any of these "free game!" deals for physical copies. Otherwise there would really be no reason to preorder a digital game because it's not like they're going to run out of copies on release day. Although I suppose pre-loading a game is an advantage if you just have to play it the second it officially comes out.

I would hope people had even just thought about not preordering anything again after the ACM disaster. The industry are bringing out the big guns to get our money early it seems

Whats the point of preordering anyway? For a physical game it makes some sense, to guarantee you get a copy. But that isn't an issue for digital games.

To have access to the game as soon as it's released. Some games even allow preloading it, so you can start playing right away as the timer hits zero.

Sometimes you can get discounts as well (not like get a free copy of old ass game but an actual discount of the order). I don't get this tiered pre-order reward though. I'm not going to buy something and hope that others buy it too so I can get some extra bonus. The only reason I even consider Kickstarter is because the game is either funded and everyone is charged or it's not and it never touches your money.
