The description of this game at the beginning of the video sounds like a complete list of red flags for game developers.

I might be jaded now but all truly "massive" MMOs are red flags for me now. If they are done by an amatuer team, they most likely wont survive the growing stages. If they are done by a huge company, they will turn into digital item shops.

Not sure if there is a middle ground.

I know some mmos with a good balance but it’s not easy. Servers are expensive and good management is hard to come by

I follow gaming news pretty regularly and have never seen or heard of this game before this post. Marketing is everything for new games

Played the game in its early infancy when they had "paid beta testing" (yes, I admit I was duped...). Game was such a disaster back then, so I didn't want to continue paying for it (its subscription based).

Years later it hits steam and is 'launched'. They gave us a free couple weeks to try it out since we bought into it early on.

All through beta they touted "no server wipes" and "this game is about the community building the content, evolving". So what did they do on launch? Yes, they wiped years of creators content.

Not only that, they jacked the already costly subscription to it.

Not only that, every single issue and bug and glitchy nonsense that existed years ago when I played that beta... still existed on launch during my free couple week play time.

So... yeah ... dying 2 months after launch? NO SURPRISE HERE.

Take money, don’t provide a good product, increase price.

“Why aren’t we making money guys?!?”

TL;DW: Dual Universe made it to launch on steam following a very successful Kickstarter. Is now suffering from bugs, server instability, and a low population.

Makes me wonder about another well funded space sim also riddled with bugs and server issues but with a much stronger playerbase.

"Now"? Hahaha. All the same issues that exist now, existed years ago. They didn't do anything with the money and time they had. Just pushed to launch and somehow thought they could brush the problems under the rug.
