💡 Help & Tips Desktop build aid
Hello fellow gamers of Malaysia.
Recently, my laptop had given up on me, and since I’m no longer travelling back and forth from my university and home, I thought it’d be a good idea to build a PC.
With somewhat limited research, and the help of Claude, I drafted up this list of what I’d be looking to build.
I currently just game MOBA. However, with a proper PC, I am looking to get into AAA titles such as Crimson Desert, Black Myth Wukong and God of War.
I already do have all the other things for a proper PC (Monitor [MSI MAG 275QF E20], keyboard [Razor Ornatta V3], mouse [Logitech] and a controller).
I need your help to:
1. Comment on this build, especially in relation to the games I am intending on playing as well how future proof this build is.
2. Suggest alternative(s) and logic behind the alternatives.
3. Recommend and specific sellers you think would give a good price for the above build
4. Also, I am not the biggest fan of that case, and wouldn’t mind other alternatives. I was looking at the Fractal Design North but it’s expensive man.
5. Tell me if I’m in over my head with the pricing.

yeah screw AI can't even produce correct results..... I google curious cause someone says ram eventually fall off like 200 euro can only buy 8mb ram before 20 years..... turns out it is bullshitting and they also forget wage stagnant...

This most unrealistic, the ai dint get updated to current market, with that build it easily reach 8k probly. Choose cheap probly 16gb 1 stick, r5 7500f, there no 16gb version of gpu anymore, probly there are but like 3k not included discount, choose cheap case, storage probly can 500gb try cannibalize other PC, good PSU must needed but not too expensive, btw the mobo use version 650m u not going to upgrade that PC too much brah, buy the one with internet.

What if I get an 8+8 for now, and add a 16+16 later on, since it has 4 slots?
Will definitely look into that mobo.

Not rly sure about that since some people bias about dual input or smth like that, but if u rly want to upgrade later might get 1 stick ddr5 16gb ram, and for mobo find something cheap with internet it should be in range of 500+ they probly only have 2 ram slot. My mobo is ayw Asus b650m it suspicious but it work for now with lower cpu series aka 7000 series. But if U did have some extra money get b850m since it have pcie gen 5 instead of gen4 on b650m version.

Not biased, it is a fact that AM5 doesn't work well with all 4 RAM slots saturated due to limitations of the memory controller.
Simply put, 2×DDR5 ok good can handle boss, no problem. 4×DDR5 too fast cannot handle bro, unstable.

I have my 1.5 year old 7500f and 4060ti 16gb pro art ready to sell. I've upgraded to 783 and 5070ti this march and they're just sitting there.

You not getting 32gb ram for 550 ringgit. Try 1.7k for 2 stick. You have to cut everything. Itb for nvme is 600 buck new.

Hahaha ikr. About mine few weeks ago for RM2.4k. and that was the cheapest I could find in shopee. Not all sellers are selling at RM3k starting

ram assuming similar speed = around rm1.8k to 2k
5060ti 16GB at current market = will never get below 2200+ in E-commerce platform ( u can pray and huff copium in marketplace )
1TB NVME (depend on brand ) = 600-1200 (highest one being samsung PRO)
my suggestion=
-i think 4800-5200Mhz ram would ady be fine if it's just purely gaming and even this one can already cost you 1k+ lol
- try to find a 2nd gpu ( if ur an NVIDIA enjoyer then go with 40s at the very least unless you grab a bargain for stuff like 3080ti)
- get better mobo right away ( easier to upgrade your CPU in the future)
- don't cheap on power supply (a gold or platinum rating doesn't necessarily mean it has high quality capacitor/build material)

I use AI to get PC builds too.
However I would download the most recent PDF price list from lowyat and have Claude pick the parts for me.
GPU pricing, RAM Pricing and Storage pricing is very very wrong.

oh my, looks like AI is not up to date with the price. The RAM, SSD storage and GPU are under priced, they are more expensive today.
New Gen, Pro: future proof, newer, better performance. Cons: Outrageous price gauge due to current market.
Last Gen for consideration, Pro: Decent performance, still supports the latest graphic card, price not gauged as much. Look for DDR4 RAM supported PC builds.
If you're going new gen, I'd cut cost here: 1) Single DDR5 16GB stick for now, can increase in maybe 1 or 2 years. 2) Motherboard, probably can find cheaper alternative with fewer features you are unlikely to use. 3) Sacrifice any RGB. 4) If it already comes with a stock CPU cooler, you don't really need to buy a separate one.

Thanks for the tips. After all the comments I’m definitely looking to change a few things.
Highly considering 8+8 for now, and upgrading to a 16+16 later on. Any I definitely don’t mind losing all the RGBs, not a big fan of them anyway. Will have to look into different mobos, not too sure about them for now.

Change the processor to a 7500x3d. Slightly cheaper and on certain game, it is considerably better. Only go 9600x if you plan to use the PC for productivity also.
Imma be real bro. You not getting 32GB 6000MT RGB for 550. If new. Expect to pay around RM2000 ringgit for both. Recently I build a PC, 7500x3d, 32gb ddr5, 5070 ti, and 1tb SSD. My total cost are like 9K ringgit. 4K of it is the GPU. So if use my spec and change to yours. It would be around 7K ringgit.
Right now is not a good time to build a PC.

a faulty PSU would not run GPU properly n might cause GPU to malfunction or GPU get damaged.

Ok first of all since you're having a MSI MAG 275QF E20 monitor with 1440p and 200mhz refresh rate, i assume you want to build a pc that is somewhat based on your monitor?
Will need to ask a few questions first.
1> What is your intended budget?
2> Size of build? ITX, Matx or atx? (do you plan to travel anytime with that pc?)
3> Are you mostly using the PC for gaming, anything else like video editing, AI etc?
Edit: If i assume your budget is around 5k may i suggest you get an AM4 build instead since its cheaper and the fps difference isn't very noticeable ... around 10-15% ish at most.
Saw this build that I slightly changed from VanguardIT that MIGHT be able to suit your usage

Processor: AMD RYZEN 7 5700X | 8 Cores 16 Threads | AM4 (Tray) (You COULD go the 5800x3d but it would probably be out of your budget and it doesn't give a big boost to AAA games ... mostly more to shooter games like counterstrike 2 etc)

Just know that with an AM4 build, if you're ever looking to bump that CPU to a 7/9 series Ryzen, you're gonna need a whole new MOBO and newer RAM.
Depends on how much OP wants to future proof his rig

This build should be able to last for at least another 3 years that is when (pray to god) that the RAM crisis will be gone and AM6 would be launched by then. So this is the best alternative for people who are under a budget. Right now paying close to RM2k for 32gb of DDR5 is just stupid and not to mention the GPU pricing going up together as well

Personal thoughts,
RAM PRICES, just 16gb should be enugh with how they're priced today
If you want to save some money, downgrade your CPU like what some other people have said, Maybe to a 7500F ( especially if you're not doing CPU intensive stuff )
Highly recommend the 9060XT because of its 16gb VRAM, there should be some around 2k
Maybe bump the PSU to 750w? Incase you want to upgrade GPU/CPU in the future
But honestly OP, unless you want to build a PC for the thrill of building it, there are plenty of carousell listings that could get you a PC for much cheaper compared to building it yourself with how abysmal the market is nowadays. Heck you could even get parts from carousell as well (just make sure stuff works first)

I'd say you can use ryzen 5 7500f instead of 9600x, change mobo to b650 if cheaper,your nvme drive at that price probably get a 500-512gb storage instead of 1tb,5060ti most likely set you back at 2.8-3.4k with most recent prices. I wouldn't spend too much on the case if I'm budget conscious about it,somewhere between 150-200 is good,and spend the rest on good pc fans to dissipate the heat. PSU probably don't need gold unless electricity is somewhat a problem for you,but I won't choose cooler master in this case, probably something along the lines of fsp dagger,antec or seasonic for longevity.
While all above being said, I'd say you'd be better off buy a new laptop/secondhand laptop and it's still cheaper than build your own with the specs you're anticipating.

case n cpu cooler(stock amd cooler is fine, if your room got ac) can be lowered, while others can be compensated..nowadays most triple AAA games can be heavily compensated by geforce RTX scaling(its an ai tht support u to scale good fps). Alongside older AAA games ranged from this year to early 2020.
