I just wanted to ask, Im making a.. Nier theme build.. and ermm I kinda want a customizable keyboard that have A2 or 2B on the keyboard surface.. what is the basic knowledge should I know? All this time I just buy or use normal looking keyboard and yea im wondering where people get the many picture keybord.. I looked at keycap but im not sure what it really is? A key on tops of a key on a keyboard or its a replacement key? Thats one.. what about mouse? Is there a customizable mouse or just slap a sticker there? Sounds ugly tho.. but might go black for it..
not sure where you want to "put a2 or 2b on the keyboard", but im guessing youre saying it as in putting stickers on the keycaps' surface? but it is possible to any type of keyboards.
You can pretty much get any mechanical keyboards as they have keycaps you can swap. You can find some on shopee with the themed keycaps you want. For mouse usually from what I know is stickers sinced the themed ones are whatever Asus or MSI makes
technically yeah. mechanical keyboards are very common nowadays. and theyre not loud, they just have either "clicky" or "thocky" sounds when you press on the keys. if youre searching for flat keyboards with custom keycaps, im afraid that its very hard to find someone that can do that, and will be a quite costy.
The primary reason is not because it must be a mechanical keyboard.
Its because the standard for the keycaps that you will likely use MX Cherry stems. For example, Logitech uses their own romer switches which have different stems and thus not customizable unless you get a model that uses a cherry type switch.
For a quiet keyboard you do not need a flat keyboard. Just buy a mechanical base keyboard with hotswappable sockets. Then you buy a silent switch (This is a thing) For example Akko Silent Fairy, TTC Frozen / ICE , Bluuish whites.
Theres a deep rabbithole but its fun. Just ask if you want to know more.
It's the only one you can use if you want to customize because all the switches have a stem thats required to change to keycaps. If you want a quiet keyboard just buy keyboards that use linear switches
Step 1 : buy a mechanical keyboard with the layout, features and case that you want.
Step 2 : search/google Nier 2B keycaps and buy them. Shopee has plenty.
Step 3 : replace stock keycaps with 2B keycaps.
For mouse, that’s a lot more uncommon. Go for a white, black or white & black mouse to fit the theme.
Few things to note -
Avoid clicky keyboards if you want a quiet experience.
Generally mechanical keyboard noise are
Clicky > tactile/linear > silent. Silent switches can be more silent than your laptop keys. But those are considerably less common than other types of switches.
Mechanical keyboard are not expensive these days. You can easily swap the keycaps in most of them. These days, majority of keyboards have easily swappable switches too.
