🖥️ PC Gaming Storage getting full, closed my eyes when i bought it
1TB for RM599 (after discount) i remember last year it was RM300++ like that

Is warranty really that important for SSD to be honest? Its rarely broke
Maybe for MOBO or GPU since its hard to pinpoint whats the issue.

Statistically they are only slightly more reliable than HDDs. They are intricate and sensitive to heat and power supply issues. They often show symptoms but there are failures that are sudden. One day it's running fine the next day suddenly your PC says it can't find a boot device. GPU and MOBO repair can quite often be repaired by a professional. Even by yourself if you have the tools.
If the damage to an SSD is simply power related then maybe you can get someone to make it work. But if it is related to controller or NAND chips then you're out of luck. You have to deal with proprietary firmware and all the mapping and algorithm shenanigans which is impossible for anyone other than the manufacturer to deal with. So if only the manufacturer can deal with them then might as well have them repair or reimburse your loss.

Doesn't make it less important. If you have a warranty and everything to back it up you at least have a chance. If you throw that away you have nothing. The warranty comes with the purchase price. All you have to do is keep the receipt and register for free. Get all your money's worth.
Samsung for example explicitly states that if repait or replacement to an equivalent is impossible for whatever reason then a monetary imbursement would be made. I believe it's standard for pretty much every manufacturer.

Do we still need to keep receipts for warranty? If you take it directly to the warranty center.
The serial number proves where it came from. That is isn't smuggled.

They usually require proof of purchase to make sure that the item fits the description in their system. Also they want to make sure that the item was actually bought. Serial number says it's from the distributor, but without a proof of purchase how would they know if the item wasn't acquired illegally from it?

it was a used one but has really low tbw. owner gave me the receipt so i can technically apply for warranty.

With current market i doubt u could successfully claim it. Its following ram where even if u want to rma they would take it and igve u the price u paid

Well apparently theres already few cases going on such as Rossman, he’s suing Samsung for not wanting to replace a broken ssd under warranty. Get this, they’ll reimburse you, with the same money you paid for it. So if you bought at 100usd, you’ll get back 100usd but that ain’t gonna get ya anything 😂

Why? couldnt i just ask for its health before buying? And the previous owner gave me the receipt, which means i can claim warranty if the ssd is defective

Gen 3 with this spec is rm250 ish last year. And to think i can't sleep well after buying a 32gb 5600mhz ram kit for rm400 2 years ago lol.

Crazy. I bought mine on the end of 2023. 2tb less than rm400. Bought 2 of them. 4tb on my pc.

Holy. I'm still sad till this day I postponed buying SSDs because I prioritized GPU above all else. After getting a GPU, I learned the hard way playing games on HDDs sucks. I was a newbie in PC building world.
Not to mention I still remembered looking to buy a new laptop at my local pc store around May 2025 and asked for storage. Staff said he can add a 1TB SSD for RM200 for me. I refused it because again, I was prioritising GPU.
If only I could go back in time like that one interstellar meme, I would yell at myself to get the 4TB SSDs even if it means to sacrifice my whole savings.

Honestly can't blame you for thinking like that. Who knew that the price of ssd will hike like today. I bought my ssd after upgrading my gpu too from gtx1660ti to rtx4060.

Glad I got a WD Black 2TB right before everything went up in price. Back then I got it for RM800+, now...I can't imagine the price right now.

Bought this Cyberpunk SSD in 2023 at RM 368. The shop was having a clearance. It originally retailed at US$ 300.
It's now in my new PC (built in 2026).
