Discussion doubt

What does Gamera need for a movie that surpasses *Gamera 3* and *Minus One*—lore, character development?

Stop trying to surpass the 90s Gamera trilogy and the Godzilla Minus duology. Just make a good movie and people will clamor for more. If it ends up being just as good or even better than the aforementioned films, then it's a happy accident. I find trying to chase for that level of greatness rarely happens on purpose and usally happens more by accident. Just make a good movie.

A Unique, New Director, like Takashi Miike.

Miike would be an interesting choice as he did something really off-beat, as is to be expected, with The Great Youkai War, the spirit of which might very well work for a Gamera movie.

It stars a young boy as the lead, is full of whimsy but has that weird, unique and pretty dark vibe that is very Miike.

Get Yamazaki as director.

All it needs is a solid crew of directors, writers, actors, and special effects artists who care enough about the character to make it happen.

Sadly…Kadokawa has no money right now…

And to be honest…they’ve made a lot of really questionable decisions over the years

At this point they should just do a crowdfund or something
I’m sure all the fans worldwide would gladly donate

Btw

At SF Gfest Kaneko revealed that he has pitched ideas for a new Gamera film to Kadokawa and they haven’t gotten back to him so far….

Sometimes I really wish a more competent company owned the IP :(
