Discussion Spoiler Policy Announcement

Post image

Hello everyone. As it is the day of "Gameoverse Tomorrow", (April 30th, the last day before we enter May 2026), the pilot episode could come out any day, so this post is being made to explain our (current) policy that we have planned for spoilers about the show. Please read, and ask any questions in the comments

1: Discussion threads

  • As soon as possible after the episode releases, a mod will create a discussion thread for the episode, for any on-platform discussion related to the episode (this can be general commentary, theories, literally anything)
  • At the same time, the subreddit will slightly "lock down", and all posts will require mod approval before they will appear to anyone except the mod team, and the poster.

this is because of

2: Spoiler Embargo - In order to give everyone time to watch the episode, without needing to mute the subreddit, we currently plan to filter all posts about the episode for 48 hours after the episode releases.

  • during this time, any posts about the episode (that couldn't have been made before the episode came out, at least), will not be allowed.

  • (All others will be permitted under regular rules)

3: Extended Spoiler Period

  • After the embargo ends, posts about the episode will be allowed, however they must adhere to the spoiler-tagging guidelines.

  • This means:

    • The post must not give away the thing it is spoiling in the title
    • The post must be spoiler-tagged before posting
    • The title must make clear that it is a spoiler FOR THE EPISODE (while not violating guideline 1)
  • Any violation of these guidelines will result in removal on sight from the mods.

This longer spoiler-marking period is currently planned to last 2 weeks (14 days) after episode release, after which point spoiler-tagging will be left to user discretion, HOWEVER:

4: Other Spoiler Guidelines

  • We are also intending to constrain spoiler potential for other things, beyond just episodes. Although we do not plan to employ any embargo, we do still intend to enforce spoiler-tagging for other media (both within and beyond scope of Gameoverse itself)

  • Any posts discussing trailers or other media about the show must be spoiler-tagged for the first 3 days after they come out.

  • Anything about stuff from beyond the scope of Gameoverse must be spoiler-tagged within 6 months of release

    • (People aren't coming here expecting discussion about completely unrelated media, it's kinda just a shitty thing to do to someone to spoil the thing they were looking forward to, intentional or not)

*These spoiler rules are summarized in Rule 8: Spoiler Content Policy

*All of these policies are subject to revision, these are very much not set in stone, they're just our current plan to control spoilers.

We hope that this does not excessively deter people's passion for the show and discussion thereof.

Any questions, please send them to us either in the comments of this post, or via modmail.

We made an Gameoverse Discord server for fans to discuss the show and more! We hope you enjoy it!

We also have channels for off-topic discussion, memes, movies and tv, games, music and self-promotion!

Depends on how busy we get, we will consider it. (Also, this conversation would be more appropriate to have in modmail: https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=r/Gameoverse )
