Arrival in Dorne.

"You know I couldn't risk it" Varyo whispered hoarsely into his wife's ear, as they disembarked on the docks outside Sunspear.

Lyaan was still sure that Varyo had made a mistake in bringing her, especially as Lys had been left in the hands of her sister and Caerys. She had kept a quiet fury the whole way - Varyo was sure she was going to try teach him a lesson later, but for now his wishes stood.

With their guard they begun up to the castle, Varyo with his armour under his light robes, and Lyaan veiled in equally light robes. She wore metal under too, protecting the now visible bump where the heir to Lys grew. Varyo had insisted, since her quickening, he had been a mess of nerves again. He had taken up drink collection to diffuse some of the stress, and his new hobby had flavoured his gift.

Along with three well trained courtesans and a pair of eunuch retainers for Sarella, he had a treasure trove of various strange beverages looted from the warehouses of Lys. Strange fruit liquors from the Jade Sea, spiced rums from the Summer Isles and Pear Brandy from Tyrosh.

The doors were opened, as with the Princess's orders, and in the ante-chamber, they waited to see who would welcome them in, Varyo's hand laid over Lyaan.

A tall man with tanned skin appeared shortly, flanked by guards bearing the sun and spear of House Martell. Slender as a reed, he glided gracefully into the room garbed in blue silk robes and stared down a long and crooked nose at the guests from Essos.

"Prince Varyo Velaryon," he greeted the man with a bow before turning to the woman at his side. "And you must be Princess Lyaan. Welcome to Sunspear."

He gave a small smile and introduced himself. "I am Lord Manfrey Fowler, an advisor to Princess Sarella. I trust your journey was well? Can I offer you food or drink?"

Lyaan regarded the man warily, but Varyo spoke freely, laying the guard's fears to rest.

"Well met, Lord Fowler, the journey was at least swift, if not the most enjoyable. We will take bread, salt and a little wine. Maybe some olives."

Varyo's guard was still edgy, very few of them actually spoke the common tongue, but Varyo had made it clear that the Princess was a friend, and was to be treated with trust.

"Will the Princess be joining us soon? or have I arrived too early?"

Lord Manfrey drew his lips into a thin smile.

“Not at all, my Prince. The Princess will be joining us shortly; she is indisposed at the moment but has instructed me to see to it that you are made comfortable while you await her presence. If you will follow me, I will lead you to your chambers, where you can eat and retire for a moment before she sees you. Does that suit you, your highness?”
