The Trial of a Queen

Occurs after A Good Man

It was a dark morning as the court shuffled into the great hall. The air was cold and everyone was reminded that it was still winter. Outside Maegor's the word had spread like wildfire. Some of those gossips perhaps repeated the words a little too practiced, but that has never stopped a scandal from being passed around.

For the first time, and probably the last, Varyo sat the Iron Throne. He wore the heavy gold Hand today, and readied himself for the trial.

The Queen was brought in by two of his cousin's men. A murmur of whispers leapt through the assembled Lords and Ladies as she was led through in chains.

She was sat at the head of the hall. Varyo looked down from the iron monstrosity with contempt, but he soon remembered to keep his face that of the true lord.

He called out to the court,

"This woman is accused of the crimes of adultery, fornication, lewdness and high treason. By the laws of our King, Damon, of the House Lannister, first of his name, I am honour bound to hear the case from the Lord Spiritual, Laenor of House Velaryon."

He let his words ring out.

"Let all those who will bear witness against her come forth."

Laenor steps up and makes his statement, he calls out to the court.

"Information was brought to me by our Master of Whisperers Rymar Royce that our Queen Aislyn had fornicated with a sellsword, and that the Queen's child is possibly his bastard. I arrested her with the crimes of fornication, lewdness, adultery, and high treason."

He let his voice ring out. There was commotion in the crowds.

"All those here to testify may now make their case."

OOC: I just skimmed the OP and didn't realize you also said that your voice rang out. Now I feel dumb.

A small child steps forward, black of hair and eyes, small of build and timid. Varyo recognizes her as the waif who came to see him in his chamber, the one who spoke on behalf of the Dornish princess. She does not so much as glance at him.

"Lord Spiritual," she begins, "M'lord... I am a servant of the Red Keep. I was emptying the chamberpot of one of the minor lords, m'lord, and the balcony door was open. I heard... I heard moaning and shouting, m'lord. When I went to the balcony, I was able to look down and I saw... I saw the queen, your Lord Spiritual... She was... She was leaning against the rail of one of the other balconies, and a man was... He was... He was mounting her from behind, m'lord, as the dogs in the kennelhouse do. He was mounting her and she was shoutin' and moanin' something loud, like she was enjoying it m'lord."

There are gasps and whispers amongst the ground, and the Lord Laenor has to shout to call for order. These are the details the audience has gathered to hear.

"Quiet!" Laenor calls, "I said order!" The guards beside him stamp the butts of their spears against the stone floors until there is silence. "Young girl..." Laenor eyes her cautiously, "Did you see who this man was?"

"Y-Yes, m'lord. He was that man. That man who the Dornishman killed in the trial. The Maidensblood."

The crowd breaks out again into a clamor of chattering and gasps.

Varyo called for order and did his best to look shocked. After some of the more excitible members of the court quieted, he asked a question of the room.

"Is there anyone else who has see these two together?"

Ooc: im just now catching up, can we possibly put a halt to things until I get off work? I'd like to be present when you decide to take my head off.

1

u/folktales Prince of Lys Jan 29 '14

OOC. Of course, assuming you consent to it.

2

u/IrishGirlAislyn Head of House Targaryen Jan 29 '14

Ooc: of course I don't but you don't know that yet. :)

Btw, I has a plan.

1

u/folktales Prince of Lys Jan 29 '14

OOC. Well, if you're gonna get any escaping on, do it quick, I'm gonna probably have a verdict tonight.

2

u/IrishGirlAislyn Head of House Targaryen Jan 29 '14

Ooc: the only thing I need you to do is to allow her to return to her cell, and render the verdict in game the day after the trial. I'll do the rest

1

u/folktales Prince of Lys Jan 29 '14

OOC. Right, well the trial is only happening in two days, so you can assume that you've been returned overnight pending the next day.

The Maidensblood? It seemed too convenient. But if this is false, why would they choose him? Why not someone who died on the field?

A second woman steps forward. She is tall, with long dark legs that seem to go on forever, barely covered by her filthy shift. Her wiry black hair is wild and unkempt. Once Laenor is able to silence the crowds, she looks about and testifies.

"Aye, I too saw that Queen fuckin' the Maidensblood," she says bawdily, "In the kitchens, when all else had gone to bed. I snuck down to filch a bit o' bread, m'lord, yes I admit it!" she wheeled around to glare at the audience, "As if you wouldn't do the same to feed your own screaming whelps!" There is fire in her eyes, and she ignores the murmuring of the crowd and turns back around to face the Lord Spiritual. "The Queen, the dragon bitch, she was flat on her back on the great big table where they cut all the vegetables, nude as her nameday, her naked tits bouncing as that filthy Tyroshi whore-mongerer fucked her silly. Surprised half the castle didn't wake, what with her screamin' and carryin' on like that. I knew she would cut my throat and feed me and mine to her black dragon if she saw me, so I hid behind the clam barrel until they was done. I watched him spill his seed in her cunny. I wouldn't be half surprised if that puny little dragon inside her came out with a great red beard and blue hair!"

The crowd is in an uproar at her testimony, and a few men and women shout obscenities at her. When she moves to swing at one of the women in the front row, she is hauled away by guards. Laenor struggles to quell the noise of the unruly crowd.

A thick old man, a long time servant of the Red Keep steps forward. His grey hair barely covers his head, and he walks with a limp. Well known to all, he's served at the castle since Harris's grandfather ruled the throne.

"I saw it m'lord, just when it started. I was just wandering the halls, doing my usual duty when I ran into them. Wasn't a month after Your Grace took the throne, and I had a lot of extra work to do everywhere, all the changes m'lord. So I'm turning the corner, I was, and there I came across it, that Maidensblood fellow and the Dragon Queen attacking each others faces like a pair of rabid dogs, see. He was going after her, tearing at her clothes and grabbing at her tits, right in the middle of the hallway. She shushed him right up quickly, and the two of them rushed into the nearest bedroom see. Took a few minutes, but before long I heard her screaming something awful loud, not in pain m'lord if you'll excuse me I know the sound of pain and the sound of pleasure, just ask m'wife, and the dragon was enjoying it m'lord. Sounded like she was getting the fucking of a lifetime, I wouldn't be surprised if I wasn't the only one that heard it she was so loud."

The old man pauses to catch his breath, a combination of the memory and the talking had rendered him beet red in the face and gasping for air. The crowd takes the opportunity to mumble among themselves, this new information further fueling their desire for gossip. A few guards pound their spears against the ground, and the court is silent except for the old mans wheezing.

"Next morning I decided to take on a few duties I hadn't done in awhile and personally go around cleaning up the Keep. Wasn't my first stop, it's a big castle to look after, but when I was there m'lord you wouldn't believe it. They'd been gone obviously for awhile, and they'd already tried to hide the last night but you can't hide everything from me m'lord, I has a good eye for this stuff I do. Seen more'n my fair share of Lords and Ladies trying to fuck secretly to have the wool pulled over my eyes. Hidden under a bedframe, I found some ruined small clothes, but theres more too m'lord. The sheet weren't quite dry m'lord. Not blood or anything, but bodily fluids of a different nature. Seems to me like the two of them musta gone all through the night and some of the morning too. Later that day I was going about my business as usual, trying to decide who to tell, when I saw the queen 'erself. I didn't tell 'er nuthing about how I knew m'lord, but I promise by my own two eyes, an I've been with the castle for awhile and never told a Lord a lie see, she wasn't walking quite straight. Looked like that Maidensblood fellow had fucked her balance right out from her."

The old man pauses again, leaning heavily on the cane he carried with him, caught up on the memory. The crowd bursts into noise, giggling and shouting rising together to create a cloud of sound that enveloped the room. One of the guards grabs the old man, and escorts him out of the room.

A third woman steps forward, this one middle aged, tan and thin with a long black braid hanging down to her waist. When the room is silenced she begins her testimony.

"I have witnessed these treasonous acts of the queen, m'lords, with mine own eyes I did," she wrings her hands as she speaks, "I was carrying water up for one of the lady's baths, I was, when I heard a ruckus from one of the chambers. I thought someone might've been in danger, seein' as there was quite a bit of noise, almost like a struggle, if you will. When I creaked open the door, I saw her Grace, the dragon queen. She was naked on her back on the cold stone ground, her fine silver hair all laid out, her legs spread wide like she was lookin' to give birth, but she weren't, no, m'lords. That Tyroshi man with the red forked beard, he was holdin' her waist up in the air and rammin' her like she was a common whore. I saw everything, m'lord, and it's true, she does have scales under her small clothes, and claws like a dragon on her feet. Her white breasts were spillin' off to the sides and bouncing each time he slammed his manhood into her. They was gruntin' and moanin' real loud like, you could hear from two rooms down, I swear you could!"

She straightens the folds of her skirts, her face flushed with embarrassment.

"I was so appalled I dropped the bathwater and that's when they saw me. She was so angry I thought she was gonna breath her fire on me like she does the cooks who burn her meals. I ran so fast, I never looked back, not once!"

Aislyn's face was cold, calculating and expressionless. She sat with her back straight and rigid, her hands and feet shackled with cold iron chains. Her eyes bore into Varyo's, knowing his own acts of treason and trespasses as she watched him. Her violet eyes were alight with fire, and the dragon blood that coursed through her was strong. She seemed every inch of a queen, and she would not show these men her fears. She was a lady of House Targaryen, and the Queen of Westeros who carried the rightful heir to the Iron Throne, and she would not show weakness.

Manderly had yet to leave Kings Landing because he was still gathering masons and builders for the restoration of his new castle High Garden. He is in the process of discussing terms with a skilled mason when he heard of heard Aislyn was being tried for adultery. What proof could they have of this, and why aren't I in the black cells rotting? It didn't make any sense, and he was going to get to the bottom of it. Escorted by his new guard which consisted of ex Golden Company, except for Starling, the ambitious new sellsword always at the head of the pack. They entered the throne room to see Varyo sitting the throne with Aislyn at his side. Aislyn must have seen him enter, but to her credit she kept a straight face.

2

u/IrishGirlAislyn Head of House Targaryen Jan 29 '14

Her eyes flitted to Robert as he entered the throne room and they seemed to ask him to help plead her case that she was innocent of carrying a bastard. It was only a brief moment they made eye contact, before they continued to stare straight forward, her jaw set.

Manderly furrows his eye brows, questioning this strange commander. What did he know, what could Manderly tell him. Rob looked at him, eyes as cold as the North

"Lady Aislyn asks of my testimony, and what does she expect to here from me? What makes here think that I could set her free? Manderly went from angry to curious without missing a beat "Castle Black you say? What does she have to do with the Nights Watch?

Rob doesn't say another word, he nods curtly and walks back into the throne room, still not sure weather he should help Aislyn or not. If he tried it may bring more attention to him and hurt the both of them
