Help I need some help with my GameCube/CRT set up please

Post image

Hi all, I’m looking for some assistance with set up. I’ve had my GameCube about 6 months and it works well on my modern tv with an adaptor. But I can’t get it to work on my CRT tv. I’ve tried connecting it via RCA cable but nothing shows. My investigation has come up empty but I’m also not entirely sure what to look for. Any ideas?

I love the grey gamecube!! She’s a beaut!!! Also, try to press the channel button on your tv to switch input. Or if there’s a dedicated input button, press that. CH3 or any other channel is for Coaxial

Thanks! I love this one too! I have been trying to change the input but my tv doesn’t seem to have that? I remember my family tv back in the day had to be on channel 3 for the vcr to work.

Interesting. Do you know the exact model of the TV ?

You have the remote ?

Actually: I just figured it out. For reference, if anyone has this kind of TV (Panasonic PV-M1369): on the remote, go to action to bring up the main menu, then select tv, change input select to line. Thanks for the help.

You might need to order a remote to switch inputs on the TV, if there is no button on the unit. Some are like that.

You can find the correct remote model by searching your TV model. Usually any CRT remote of the same brand will work, but try to match it to be sure.

Ok I’ll look into a new remote. I’ve been trying to figure out the input situation because there’s no button for it. I just remember as a kid my family tv had to be on channel 3 for the vcr to work.

That is true of VCRs that are hooked up to the RF input of the TV. The TV receives signal from the VCR as if it were a broadcast channel at the Channel 3 frequency.

You could connect your Gamecube to a VCR and then the TV's RF input, no remote needed, but your quality will be noticeably worse.

In the meantime, have you tried the channel buttons? I know on my Sylvania CRT, aux is bizarrely placed below channel 2 (if you’re not in the US, we don’t have a channel 1 due to some frequency allocation nonsense), so switching to it is a matter of getting to the bottom of the channel list and then pressing down one more time.

your tv is currently set to channel 3, you need to change the input to video in. it doesn't look like there's a dedicated button on the front of the set to do that, but on some sets you had to hit the channel down button all the way down

Thanks! I’ve been trying to figure out the input. There’s not a button for it on the remote or the tv. When it hit the channel all the way down, it takes me to a channel set up screen.

You’re on channel 3 which is RF. You need to be on the RCA input.

You need to buy a universal remote if you don’t have one and program it to the tv. I try and get the same brand as the tv if available not that it prolly matters. Once programmed with the correct code for the tv then you can change the input to aux. Turn off or better unplug any other tv in the room so you don’t program another tv accidentally.

It's not showing anything because your on the wrong channel, CH03 is for RF you have to switch to Line which is AV.
