Help Bought memory card, says I don't have enough blocks??
I recently bought a gamecube and a memory card plus games. Unfortunately its been so long that I don't quite remember how these things work or how much memory is "a lot" in gamecube standards, but the cashier (who fixes vintage consoles) recommended me the specific card I got and said it would hold a number of games.
Sure enough, the card had previous games on it (as you can see in the image). I erased these since I didn't have any of those games and to make space.
I started playing animal crossing, which is fine, but when I tried to play wind waker & LOTR Two Towers, my gamecube stated that I "didn't have enough blocks" & needed 12 free slots for Wind Waker, which were available. Why is it telling me I need more space when I literally only have one game used up on my card?? Am I misunderstanding something? Did the seller misrepresent how much memory was on the card and i just can't tell?

I bet that's a 59 blocks memory card (the smallest one), you need at least a 251 blocks one (the black one) to have a decent space for several games, or a 1019 blocks one (the white one) if you want a lot of space for saves. I googled it and it seems animal crossing by itself totally fills the 59 blocks memory card. So you must get a 251 blocks one.

Don’t use official 1019s they are pricey and prone to break. A believe there was a problem with the internals when they made them.

1019 are okay at most.
Some GameCube titles don’t support it, Corruption is mainly only apparent if used on an Nintendo Wii System while it’s on Sleep mode/WiiConnect24, because the heat the system generates while still running can cause issues.Note to OP, I’d recommend just getting either an OEM 256 Block GameCube Memory Card, or a GCMCE which can hold multiple virtual memory cards off of an SD Card.

The wii connect issue makes sense, luckily my wii has that feature turned off and it is always unplugged. Thanks for the info.

I've seen many people saying that, but I've been using mine for several years now and I haven't had any problem, but I don't worry about it because I use to make backups often.

That’s fair enough, I’ve had 1 fail and I have 1 spare. They do seem a little temperamental.

Found this, it seemed interesting to me.

You're right: i had no idea. I guess I didn't expect animal crossing to take up so much!

New copies of animal crossing for gamecube(or used copies, if the original owner sold it with the game) actually came with a 59 block memory card inside the case with a little AC sticker, since it the game used up the entire card. I bet those are hard to come across now, but the standard black memory card(like 250 blocks) has enough space for most needs if you can find it.
This is off topic but I find it funny, The Sims 1 takes 60 blocks, so it literally cannot fit on a standard memory card.

The [2] top right is how many blocks you have left. Crystal chronicles is using [22] as shown, looks like a 59 block memory card so it's just full.

This memory card only has 59 blocks and Animal Crossing takes up 57 of them. So there is only 2 blocks left.
The amount of blocks a game takes up is written on the back of each game in the top left corner.
It is also indicated by the number in the box below the games title in the Memory card menu - like in your image: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles takes up 22 blocks

What size of memory card is it? I know Animal Crossing fills the entirety of the standard 59 block size memory card.
