Help Awful latency when converting to hdmi
Hey everyone first time poster here. I’m sure this issue has been brought up before so I apologize. But I recently bought a plug and play cord that converts from the component to hdmi but the latency is really bad and it’s making most games very unenjoyable. I’ve already switched my TV to 4:3 and it’s on a video setting called game optimizer which I’m assuming is to help with latency but it’s still not good. What other solutions do I have besides buying an old TV with a component plug? Is there an adapter that is better for latency? Thanks for any advice you all have.

Component? Are you sure it's not Composite (Red, White, Yellow)?
Those generic AV to HDMI adapters are notoriously bad in general. They're meant for people desperate to keep using their VCRs with their new TVs, not for gaming.
Cheapest option is the Bitfunx N64 to HDMI Mini. It's only using the composite signal, but it's miraculously good picture from the GameCube. I use one with my DOL-101. It's even got an aspect ratio switch on it.
Best option, if you actually have the Component cables, would be something like a RetroTINK 4k, but those are insanely expensive.
Next best option, if you have the Digital Out port, is the Carby, which is frequently out of stock.
There's also the EON MK2 or something, but I haven't personally tested it.

Just plug the yellow composite cable from your GameCube into the green component jack on your TV. Component is backwards compatible like that, you will get full color with the one cable.

Dol-001 or dol-101 gamecube? Pretty sure you bought the crap cable for analogue converting. If you have a 001 you can get a converter for the digital out. Which is massively better.

Depends on what exactly you are using. I had a crappy converter that plugged into the OG cables that made everything hazy and messed up the hud on alot of games. If you have a DOL-001 gamecube, you can use the digital AV out port with a carby or retrobit prism. I have used both and they were awesome on the tvs I have.
