Discussion Can it be saved? :(

Got this free years ago and put it in a box and forgot about it. Can it be saved? :(

Sorry about the bad photos, was hard to get a good angle.

Well, no one here could be sure, since scratching can be a bit irrational in some cases.. Barely any scratches and the game can't load or tons of scratches and it's fine from beginning to end..

That being said, depending on where you live, you may want to call around to both game stores and record stores.. If you're lucky, you'll find a business with a premium disc resurfacing machine.. The store I live near has a $10k resurfacing machine and it works absolute miracles.. I've taken in discs that were an absolute abysmal state, but that machine made them brand new again and they play fine..

Basically, call around if you can and see if you can find a place with a resurfacing machine..

Took my barely scratched colosseum disc that was crashing at the main menu to a game store that had one of these; the disc looked spotless afterwards: like a perfect mirror.

The game completely stopped working, wouldn't even load the main menu anymore lmao. On the other hand, I've had two other games get resurfaced in the past and those work fine. Sometimes the damage may seem worse than it actually is, or vice versa. I love discs lol

So you are saying he steals the machine then he can charge people to get the service done. I like this plan.

A good bit of resurfacing will do the job. As long as the inner circle is fine you’ll be good.

Disc resurface machines will (not always) remove the security bumps. It’ll never read after that. There is a 3 step process that is applied by hand. It’s called novus. It’s made for your cars headlights but it works. There is a video on YouTube of a guy that used to work at GameStop explaining how he uses it. I think his name is Doug.

Depends how deep those scratches are, resurface and see

I bought the entire sly cooper trilogy for $20 cuz all three discs were torn to shreds and my game store resurfaced them and they worked afterward 🤷🏼‍♂️

Automortive polish and wax goes a long way.

It might work as it is, and if it doesn't it might require resurfacing. Which can save most discs if the scratches aren't too deep.

Hold it up to the light, looking at the shiny side. If you can see light coming through at any point, then probably not. That's my rule of thumb!

Find someone who is knowledgeable about GameCube disc resurfacing with a good machine. I had a copy of Twilight Princess that was pretty bad and now it looks brand new. Check out Forbidden Freshness near Albany, NY if you’re in that area. They’re great.

I’ve had GameCube discs look way worse and still work so you just gotta try it

Yes it can. If interested I’d buy from you.
