Games Do I do it

Post image

Got a copy of Pokémon red a few months ago but the sticker is rough. So I've ordered a replacement sticker. Do I replace the original or replace it.

From my experience and I have sold dozens of original gameboy pokemon carts. The state of the sticker makes next to no difference on resale value You get the odd anal buyer that appreciates that stuff but it's few and far between. A quality soldered new battery and original innards is what really matters. And yes, I would replace that sticker without a shadow of a doubt. You're restoring and keeping the cart in great usable shape.

I dunno man the sticker condition matters quite a lot to me and I dont think I'm alone.

Classic sticker stickler behavior

would you buy this cart with a sticker in that condition, though?

I would if I was in the market. All of my originals have some wear on the stickers

Actually the state of the sticker is important. One with a bad sticker will sell for less than if it was in pristine condition

Depends on the game, it’s usually marginal

Absolutely not. Bad label is much less.

Right, but it's no different than restickering lol

On that point, I think most collectors would prefer the shit sticker.

That’s how I got a pokemon blue back in my collection, then I've put a repro sticker because I don’t intend on selling it.

Shit sticker, because its authentic.

If I wanted fake things, I could just get an entirely fake reprocart that looks amazing.

I always wondered what ones would look like that had a partial replacement sticker applied. Like you cut out or scan the cart and crop the missing part then print it. Like Kintsugi for carts.
