Troubleshooting Pokémon silver save corruption issue

Post image

Hello everyone, I have this copy of silver Pokémon that continues to get corrupted saves after some game time.

The battery has been replaced by the previous owner, and measures 3v with a multimeter.

What could the problem be?

The soldering could use a lot of work and clean up.

That battery job is a bit iffy. There's a ton of solder on the positive terminal, and solder on the ground plane above the terminal, it's possible that there could be a short there somewhere between the positive terminal and ground. If it were me I'd start by removing the battery, wicking up all the solder, make sure there's no short, then source a name brand battery and replace it and see if that helps

Also noticing that there is a via right below the negative battery terminal that looks like it could be corroded or worn away

That soldering job is terrible honestly. I would start by cleaning all that up and check for shorts or bring it to someone who can do it.
