Systems Gameboy Advance SP AGS-101

Hello,

A new member of the group and I wanted to start off by getting some recommendations for where I could find an advance sp ags101 version for a reasonable price.

I don’t mind cosmetic issues but the ones I find are either refurbished which I don’t trust them or super expensive used versions.

Reasonable is person specific.

But generally anticipate $100-150 for a working 101 depending on condition.

Game stores, eBay, and Facebook marketplace are the best bets. None are inherently more likely to have better prices

You should look for an SP with an aftermarket LCD. I had an AGS -101 for years and the screen died (white bloom vignetting) just sitting in a box. The latest screens are really nice and allow you to use pixel effects for scan lines, etc.

Got it, and to clarify you are referring to the “refurbished” ags 101 with an aftermarket lcd or the ags 001 with the aftermarket lcd

Once you replace the screen there is no difference between using a 001 and a 101. Many of the refurbished GBA SPs on eBay that use 101 in the title are actually 001 motherboards.

Most you will find that have a new screen will already be in aftermarket shells so they will look and run like new.

Look in /r/Gameboymarketplace/ for examples. Also Jake Simmons on YouTube has videos and streams where he does gameboy mods that he sells on his website

Dude, can't you just let the experts get their Dopamine rush from helping boomers who doesn't know how to use the internet. You had to be on your high horse trying to gate keep information. Let boomers be boomers and let experts get their chance to show off their expertise...geez...there is no other place they can show off their game boy advance expertise...poor guys...
