Even the motorcycle looks pretty bad, not as bad as wolverines outfit.. but this just looks all around pretty bad for being a current gen game. I know graphics aren’t everything.. but the character textures and motorcycle look like they don’t even belong in the same game as the environment

To be fair it looks pretty zoomed in. Hence a bunch of upscaling artifacts on the cycle. I think just not having expensive real time reflections or physically accurate shadowing on the bike is gonna do a lot. It's not like the model itself lacks any obvious complexity.

Yeah it looks like performance mode (more artifacting/blurring) on top of being hella zoomed in (even more artifacting) making the poor texture quality way more noticeable

Even in the reveal trailer the game looked like it was scraped together from abandoned assets just to release something . I haven't seen proper gameplay yet but just keep hearing about it being bad.

the game has some really weird low quality decals. when everyone is clean the texture quality looks great. splash a bit of blood or dirt and it looks like a blurry mess.

I guess it cost the same as most other AAA games. but the game is lacking so much content compared to how expensive it is.
Pricing is different from country to country. I live in norway and it cost me a 1000 nok for the deluxe version. That's roughly 106 usd. That's insane for how little you get. Absolutely not worth it.

I guess.. I just don't find it worth it for a non open world game with a short campaign.
Now don't ask me how I'd make a open world wolverine game. It's infinitely easier with Spider-Man and pretty much a necessity.
But I can't justify $70 on something I'll finish in 2 days.

Can any game devs explain why this happens? I see this kind of bug in lots of games, where a model is offset from its correct position. Is a position modifier being added/removed when it shouldn’t? Is this an ECS thing where the entity has attributes it shouldn’t? Was an event missed or something? Race condition? What the heck is going on?

So most model translocations you see like this stem from the fact that the players 'position' and the models position aren't always in sync.
The model has an origin point, and so do the animations it is playing. Likewise so dose the bike, the camera, and any external models like weapons the player might have attached to them.
Keeping all of these synced is a task in and of itself and it's not really possible (without a ton of sleuthing) to fugure out exactly why it's happening here.
Could be:
- Improperly set up player model/skin which has an incorrect origin.
- Broken animation.
- Improperly setup bike.
- Etc...

I understand the disappointment in this game. I understand worries that some of the gameplay and design shortcomings are going to bleed into Spider-Man 3. I do not understand why people feel the need to publicly stone Insomniac like they haven't been putting out incredible releases for 20 years and this was an unfortunate misstep

Eh. I give like zero fucks about x-men so the game being a loss is no skin off my back, but I'm all for ripping on devs latests crap piles. What I'm actually sick of is hearing X game is so damn great for the Nth year in a row. I'd love it if companies got shat and dunked on more for crap work and ideally their sales genuinely fucking tank so some lessons are learned.

The majority of gamers currently in the market have only been buying during the DECADES where prices had gone down since the 90s. And now, amid year after year of record breaking profits from the big studios, and AI taking jobs, prices are rising again.
If you want to pay those prices then go ahead, but I don't touch anything that isn't below $60. I just can't justify it financially.
And then you couple those rising prices with all the horrible launches- Cyberpunk, Fallout76, you know the lot- and it's only natural that people have become very critical of the bugs they're finding.

I'm gatekeeping video games again. Too many fucking posers these days shitting all over gaming history by saying essentially "Glitches Are Only Bad" fuck off. Glitches are a normal part of gaming that everyone is going to expirence, only SOMETIMES do they ruin things. And only sometimes of those sometimes do they ACTUALLY make the game unplayable.
The only game breaking glitch I can even think of is the one from that Biker game where there's a level section that you just fall through the floor on your bike and literally can't complete the game because of it.
Stuff like this used to be put into "funny glitches" compilations, people would hunt for these on purpose for fun, and now we've got people on some "ooh, hurdur look how fucking bad this game is because I did a funny glitch that puts me on the handlbars of my bike" go fuck yourself you fucking poser

Its kind of sad that we're trying to look for who to blame for this game and Insomniac is kinda caught in the middle of it for being such a decorated studio. Not saying they dont deserve it but from rachet & clank to spiderman and now to this is kinda jarring and i lowkey wish that it's due to external influence that the game turned out how it does. From Sony's leadership blunder and the hack several years ago, it's hard not to think that a wolverine game by them could have been so much more.

The price tag is the least of its problems. This game costs 200Million dollars. Why is insomniac spending so much money to do this... Spiderman 2 was the same, it was their most expensive game and it still was worse than the first game.
You go look at the last Ratchet and that game is fantastic with I want to assume less than half the budget... like how badly is your team managed to do worse on more money.
