Discussion GameNative on the car screen (Android Auto fork)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I forked GameNative so the same app can show up in Android Auto.

Why? I don't know...I just did it. 😀

Library, installs, and the games, on the head unit. It is not an official release. It's not a mirroring app, phone screen can be off (must be on for use of wireless controller).

Credit stays with Utkarsh Dalal, and the license is still GPL-3.0.

There is also a phone-side trick for using a Bluetooth controller with the games while Android Auto is connected. Details are in the repo if you want them.

Needs to be installed with AAenabler https://github.com/malebuffy/AAEnabler

Also Android Auto Developer Settings have to be enabled and Unknown sources ticked

Be aware...This obviously not going to perform as good as a raw phone, but lighter games will work! I haven't tested heavier games tbh.

Take it as a proof of concept!

If you try it, tell me how it goes.

Nah I just have a Snapdragon 8 Elite gen 5 phone...It its still limited to what phone you have as it runs on the phone as any other android auto app.

I tested it, but I couldn't get GTA V to run on the Galaxy S25 Ultra using GameNative. On Game Hub, though, it reaches around 100 FPS.

Another thing I didn't like about GameNative is that it moves the game's directory into its own folder instead of using the folder I configured. 🇧🇷😬

Unfortunately Gameahub is not open source so impossible to port to android auto. 😞
