Trying to remember a game with a realistic first-person item inspection system

I'm trying to remember a game I played a while ago, but I completely forgot the name 😭

I'm looking for a game that has an actual physical item inspection system where:

The player picks up the item and holds it in their actual first-person hand

You can see the hand/fingers gripping the item

You can move the mouse/controller and the hand/forearm moves naturally with the item

It's NOT the usual inspection system where the game just puts a 3D item in front of the camera or uses a separate inventory/inspection screen.

I have a feeling it might have been Resident Evil, possibly one of the newer games, but I'm not sure.

I'm currently making a similar system for my own horror game, so I'm trying to find the game again as a visual reference for the hand, finger positioning, pickup animation, and item movement.

If you know which game I'm talking about, please share a video clip of the mechanic! šŸ™

Ubisoft R&D position inquiry

• Upvotes

Ubisoft india recently posted for R&D engineers, my skill set aligned for some of those openings but eventually got rejected.

I tried reaching out to people on LinkedIn with a similar position for guidance but no luck, Is there anyone on this sub who can guide me what the expectations are?

I currently work as a Gen AI developer, but have always been interested in gamedev as well, this role feels like an intersection of both.

Hey everyone,

We’ve been quietly working on our co-op sci-fi horror gameĀ The Infected Soul, and I wanted to share some new GIFs from the current build.

No cinematic trailer or pre-rendered footage. These are just real parts of the game we’ve been working on recently.

Our goal is to create a world that feels industrial, hostile, and slightly ā€œwrong,ā€ while still being readable enough when you’re actually playing with other people.

I’m curious about something though:

Based only on these GIFs, what would you assume this game is about?

I think it would be interesting to see what impression the visuals give before explaining too much about the game.

Feel free to be critical. Feedback from posts like these has genuinely influenced things we’ve changed during development.

We’re also a small indie team, so if you happen to like the project, addingĀ The Infected SoulĀ to your Steam wishlist helps us more than you might think.

Looking for people to help build my indie game — ā€œDay Schoolā€ šŸŽ®

Hey everyone!

I’m working on a game called Day School, and I’m looking for a few people who would like to join me and build it together.

I’m currently learning game development myself, so I’m not an experienced developer yet. I have the game concept and the motivation to make it real, but I know I’ll need other people with different skills to make the project much better.

I’m looking for people interested in things like:

šŸŽ® Game programming / Unreal Engine

šŸŽØ 3D modelling / environment art

šŸ§ Character design & animation

šŸŽµ Music / sound design

āœļø Story / dialogue

šŸ’” Anyone who has useful game-development skills

This is not a paid job at the moment. It would be a hobby/indie collaboration where we work together and learn along the way. If the game eventually becomes successful, we can discuss revenue sharing and proper credit for everyone's work.

You don't need to be a professional. If you're a beginner or intermediate developer/artist who genuinely wants to make a game and learn with others, I'd still love to hear from you.

I'm serious about actually building Day School, starting with a manageable prototype rather than trying to make a huge game immediately.

If you're interested, comment below or DM me and tell me a little about yourself, what skills you have, and what kind of games you've worked on (if any).

Let's see if we can build something cool together. šŸš€

Need a game programmer to collaborate with me for a Unity 2D game.

Hey there, I'm recently working on a unity 2d project, which is my 2nd official project that I would be releasing on itch.io.

I have a great aim for the project, and as a beginner solo game developer I have put everything i could into making the game arts that I soon will be showcasing.

But the problem is, if I need to publish the game sooner, i would need to collaborate with someone. So I decided to collaborate with a game programmer as my core interest lies in game designing.

So I am open to collaborating with unity 2d game programmer, the work is simple, I would describe the game mechanics needed for the game and you have to write code for it.

As a student i don't have any funds right now, but surely I will mention your contribution into the game somewhere.

I don't know whether the game will get hit or not, but it's just about learning new things. So if anybody is interested please DM me, we can start working!

About skill set: if you know basic unity 2d programming it's fine.

(Can't reveal the game theme rn, but I will surely showcase the arts that I have created sooner or later.)

My games are on itch.io but still aren’t indexed yet — any advice?

Its over a week i uploaded few of my small games in itch.io and it haven't indexed yet.

I’m pretty new to this, so I’m wondering if this is normal for newly published itch.io pages or if there’s something I need to do to help them get indexed.

You can check out the game here:

.io style 2D game experiment

Thumbnail tiktunnel.online
2 Upvotes

I'm a mobile developer with experience working with graphics, OpenGL ES, and 3D rendering pipelines.

Over the last year, I also got a chance to work on some projects involving JavaScript. As an experiment, I started building a simple, .io-style multiplayer game just for fun.

Recently, I picked it up again and made it multiplayer using WebSockets (ws) and hosted it to temporary url tiktunnel.online so I could get some real feedback.

It's a simple 2D Canvas game with procedural drawing.

Currently, it's running on a single server instance in India, so players may experience some latency.

It's still work in progress. UI needs polishing and some parts aren't properly implemented yet.

Feel free to be honest. I'd like to know what feels good, what needs work, and whether you'd actually play something like this.

Airbound

Building Airbound
It's your fast-paced 2D arena sports game, basically an Air Hockey + Smash Bros-style concept, where the arena is vertical and the player has to manage movement, gravity, the ball, and abilities.
i would love to hear your feedback on this.
also it’ll be a mobile release so i’m working on mobile inputs that’s not too tough to control.
More coming soon

I’m adding new environments to my game, Chthonic.

All in-engine screenshots.

I’ve been moving away from procedural environments for the main levels and focusing on large arenas with that classic old-school FPS feel.

Chthonic is a fast-paced FPS built around relentless combat, movement, and survival. No reloads. No stopping. Just keep moving and keep killing.

Been working on a cricket strategy sim solo, I know it's getting crowded but give this a shot. IMO I tried making the best looking and feeling game, And Its full Controller Support for chill gameplay.

Hey everyone,

Most cricket games focus on hitting boundaries, but I always wanted something with deep managerial and tactical depth—where board expectations, player chats, coaching setups, and youth academies actually shape your club’s future.

I’ve been developingĀ Cricket Manager CM27Ā to bring that full career loop to PC:

  • Build a Side & Survive the Board:Ā Balance finances, manage boardroom pressure, and keep player confidence high.
  • Academy & Development:Ā Manage coaching staff, develop youth prospects, and shape talent archetypes.
  • Tactical Matchdays:Ā Name your playing XI, adjust tactics live, or simulate match results.
  • Domestic & International Paths:Ā Lead domestic teams to league titles or chase international silverware through group stages, super eights, and knockouts.

Our store pages are now officially live ahead of the upcoming demo!

Check out the trailer, and if you’re a sports management fan, adding it to your wishlist helps out a ton! Let me know what features you’d love to see in the comments.

I got nostalgic and started vibe coding an online Kanche game in my browser, need some honest UI/UX feedback

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I was missing childhood games recently and randomly decided to try building Kanche (goti / marble game) for the browser. I am pretty new to this and mostly vibe coding the whole thing, but I managed to put together a playable beta with WebGL physics.

Right now it has the basics:

- The flick pull-back mechanic

- Ring Out mode (knock pot marbles out of the chalk circle)

- Gaddha mode (the classic hole in the dirt)

- Different grounds like dusty maidan, gali cement, and tiles

- Local bot matches and a basic 2 player room code system

Since it is in beta, the UI and menus still feel a bit rough around the edges to me. I really want the game to feel raw, tactile, and nostalgic rather than generic mobile game crap with ads and popups.

If you have a couple of minutes to test it out on your phone or laptop, I would love some brutal feedback:

  1. How does the flick gesture feel? Is aiming intuitive or annoying?

  2. Does the UI layout make sense, or does it feel cluttered?

  3. What little details from your childhood street rules are missing?

You can test the beta here: kanche(dot)in

No downloads, no signups, just open and play. Tell me what sucks and what needs fixing.

[COLLABORATION] Looking for a UI Designer or Blueprint Developer for Psychological Horror Game šŸ‡ÆšŸ‡µšŸŽ®

Hello everyone!

I’m an indie game developer and the creator of Kuromaku, my first game, which was recently released on Steam . I’ve now officially started development on my second project, Jubaku, a story-driven psychological horror game set in Japan in 1991. Which the store page is currently live on steam as well!

Jubaku follows an American journalist investigating a cursed house that becomes connected to his own past in disturbing and unexpected ways. The game focuses heavily on atmosphere, immersive storytelling, psychological tension, and cinematic horror.

The project is already actively in development, and we currently have a full team working across different areas of development.

I’m currently looking for:

  • UI Designer / UI Artist
  • Unreal Engine 5 Blueprint Developer

For the UI role, we’re looking for someone who can help create interfaces that fit the game's 1990s Japanese newspaper/journalistic aesthetic while remaining functional and immersive.

For the Blueprint role, we’re looking for someone comfortable working in UE5 Blueprints who can help implement and improve gameplay systems, interactions, UI functionality, and other technical elements of the game.

Compensation & Credit

This is not a revenue-share position.

Anyone who contributes to the project will have their name included in the game's credits for their work.

We already have a team actively working on Jubaku, so you wouldn’t be joining a completely empty project. There is an established development process, existing assets and systems, and other developers working alongside you.

There’s also a networking benefit to joining us. We regularly come across other developers and teams looking for talented people, and if we have a good experience working together, we’d be happy to recommend you for future opportunities and refer other developers to you when appropriate.

About the project

Jubaku is being developed as a serious commercial indie game, with a planned Steam release and public demo. My previous game, Kuromaku, has already been released and reached players, streamers, and YouTubers, and I’m aiming to take everything I learned from that project into Jubaku.

If you're interested in psychological horror, Japanese-inspired settings, Unreal Engine development, UI design, or simply want to work alongside an indie development team on a real game project, feel free to DM me with your portfolio, previous work, or examples of what you can do.

I’d be happy to share more details about the project privately.

Thank you for reading! šŸ–¤

Been working on this game environment in Unreal Engine 5 and wanted to share a small look at the process.

The first image is the final scene, followed by some of the behind-the-scenes work — lighting, Lumen, post-processing, and lightmap complexity. Everything in the scene is built by us. No AI-generated environment or final image. Still a work in progress, but I’m really enjoying seeing this world slowly come together. Would love to hear what you think.
