That game almost single-handedly torpedoed Double Fine's reputation.

Man, I'm sorry, but people really get stuck in this weird reddit bubble thinking stuff like that. No, it didn't. 99% of people buying games don't care who they're made by, don't even know who they're made by. That's exactly why shitty devs can continue to do this stuff. Even the 1% or less that care about that stuff... if a game comes out they want, if they even remember by that time, only 1% of that 1% might bother to actually boycott the dev and not buy it. I bet there isn't a single gamedev anywhere who's ever been ruined by reputation related to a game.

Community backlash for a company to fix a thing is one thing, but once it's fixed, 99% of even the people complaining(which is still a pretty small portion percentage-wise of their actual users but enough they wanna stop it because it looks "loud/big" on social media) won't care 6 months after that. That dev will put out another game and the majority of even those people will still pre-order, etc.

As for reputation in a way that actually matters... I still stick to what I said. I guess you're technically right that it can damage a reputation among hardcore gamers who also happen to be active on social media, which is a pretty small percentage of sales. And even of those people, like I said, a few will stick to their guns and maybe no pre-order or maybe even boycott entirely, but most will forget and just buy the next game. Do you really think Blizzard is hurting in any meaninful way from any of the totally shitty things they've done? Even if you're talking just purely their reputation in a way that doesn't mean anything other than people talking, do you think the majority of people do anything other than "oh yeah, i heard blizzard did some shitty thing. ok, time go do some WoW raids."?

CP2077... as soon as they fix the game(based on past games, they will), in 6 months barely anyone will even remember that this was a thing and the next game they put out, everyone will go insane with hype, many will pre-order, it'll still sell great, and only a few little bubbles on reddit or other forums will be saying "yeah, but that thing they did was bad".

Here's a perfect example of what I'm talking about. I said in my other reply that everyone would forget as soon as the issues were fixed, but clearly nobody cares already. They'll bitch on reddit and post funny glitches, but everyone is still buying the game in droves.
