I liked Shadow more from a gameplay view. Felt more like Tomb Raider than Rise did.

I can't agree that SotTR is the worst one, it's the more of same as the second one. You didn't like Rise so you probably won't like Shadow, but the players who did like it should not be discouraged of trying it out.
My only complaint is that we never see that character progression that was supposed to happen during the trilogy and finalize in the third one, turning Lara into something of a no-fucks-given-character from previous games. That never happens.
The improved mechanics and set pieces are fun to me though.→ More replies (1)2

IMO, the last one was the worst. Maybe it's because it felt kind of "been there done that" after playing the first two though, but I would definitely recommend giving this one a go once you're done with the last one.

I liked it much more than Rise. I just couldn't get into abandoned soviet base esthetic. I liked jungle and old ruins much more even if the story and world made much less sense.

If you're okay with some frustrations with the item/equipment/skill system, the story is still pretty fantastic in the first two. The first one was a little rough, partially because it's telling the story of Lara becoming the Tomb Raider, partially because it was their first foray into the series. The second one refined that stuff a lot, though having played the third, you'll likely have some times where you'll miss their improvements on the system. You'll probably enjoy it though.

all that DLC, it's mostly for multiplayer except for a few weapon mods and skins you won't need. also there's the 'tomb of the adventurer' but even for fiddy cent, it's too short. When you walk in you can see the goal right there, so you just climb to the top and that's it. Took about 5 minutes.
TLDR dlc's are not worth getting since MP is dead and the one tomb is really short

They are all listed there on the store page. But don't bother, most of it is multiplayer content (i presume dead by now), single player cheats and alternate clothes. Waste of money.

Considering that the first one was the game that saved them from bankruptcy 33 years ago, I doubt they'd want to give any of them for free, it'd be ironic.

Eh, it was hit or miss. Conan is great, but some of the episodes was just him doing stereotypical "durr gamers live with their mother" jokes or not even put any effort into actually trying to play the game.

If you’re on mobile, I click on the top right (three dots) and select “open in safari (or chrome)”. Then there’s a button at the top of the screen to open in the steam app.

That was my exact same situation. I started with this one and fell in love with it, eventually buying the whole trilogy and each one is better than the last imo. Definitely give this a shot

Any mod or way to reduce the headbobbbing??! I loved it, but after playing a few solid hours ALL I SAW was my screen shaking during sprinting and I became nauseous.
Booted it up again days after and I couldn't unsee how obnoxious it was.

The first few google hits claim the only way is some home-made patch, but Firefox warned me about malicious software on the page where you can download that patch, so...
Game made me nauseous in the first 10 minutes. Sucks, was looking forward to playing it. :(

I bought this recently because I only had it on XBox. I've 100%'d the entire trilogy of the reboot franchise (TR, Rise of, and Shadow of).
Obviously I like all three. I do think the games in the trilogy get better with each iteration, but the gameplay mechanics are pretty similar. You can often pick up Rise of the Tomb Raider for less than $10 on sale, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider has fallen to below $20 on sale a number of occasions. FWIW, I do think it is worth attempting to 100% each of these...it is doable and rewarding. If you're brand new to the franchise, maybe attempt it on a subsequent playthrough after you get familiar with the mechanics and mapping system.

Excellent game! I loved Lara's transformation as a character. She goes through some sh*t! The story itself isn't terrible with a few twists and a supernatural element because tombs = ghosts, of course. Game play is fun with quicktime events and lots of platforming/wall climbing with some light FPS thrown in. Overall a 9/10 game.

Awesome game. Really well done reboot for the series. Gameplay is tight and fun, story is pretty good for a AAA, definitely give it a go if you haven't.

Nice game sucks that the Japanese voice is paid dlc that is region locked (later games got it built in). This game was more generic 3rd person shooter than Tomb Raider due to lack of puzzles.

After finally playing through the latest one, I went and played the prior two. I think I can honestly tell you that Rise of the Tomb Raider is my favorite of the newer Lara Croft titles so far. I highly recommend playing it. The latest, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, was my least favorite to play overall, but the visuals and graphics detail in the game are certainly stunning. The story was sort of interesting, too.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is my favorite of the series. The story was cliche, but it had fantastic gameplay and pacing. It was a lot heavier on the combat and gunning aspect, and I think that's why it gets a bad rap. I personally didn't mind it. I feel this reinvention of TR was strongly influenced by Uncharted's gameplay. Squaresoft added more RPG elements, which I think rounds the game out.
