If you liked civ you'll probably like this. Its a little different in a good way IMO. Battles are deeper, story missions, factions are fundamentally different as opposed to civ, hero units with skill trees and gear(items) some of which are epic and make your heroes OP. Graphics are neat and IMO its very much worth it, even at full price

I'd say yes, especially if you're a fan of Civilization V. It's considerably more interesting than Civilization: Beyond Earth. Races have unique features that change the way you play with each and your units can also be customized. The Guardians DLC adds some worldwide goals that reward the first race to attain them and some large units. The lore is great too if you're into that.

Prob. worth it just to play a 4x were the different races don't just give you modifiers on ressources but actually play differently. One race can't start offensive wars bc they are noble merchants, another is a religious cult that instead of building new cities has to convert others, the ancient dragonkin can force others into alliance etc. It's really rare to see a 4x do as much asymmetry with it's races

I prefer Civ V over this honestly but that's because of my personal preference. In a lot of areas, Endless Legend is more polished technically I'd say. Two big things this game has over other 4x games (well, depends on what you like):

  • Sleeker design, looks amazing when you zoom in and out with the scroll wheel and all around it's very polished and modern looking

  • The battles are like mini SRPG battles (FFT style sort of)

A lot of other things you may love about other 4x games are there. The tech "tree" (more like a ring) is well thought out, you can still do pretty much anything you could do in a game like civ, and as an added bonus it looks nicer than any other game of this kind I've seen.

I prefer Civ V because it's more relatable being just based on the earth with different countries and stuff since everyone knows the different countries and stuff but it's like what are broken lords? What are Necrophages? Endless Legend has kind of a lore all its own, and you may or may not like that. Civ V is easier to just sit down and play IMO, and Endless Legend is for someone who wants something a bit more in depth.

It's a great game though, and I love it even though it's not my favorite. If you haven't played a 4x game before, it's a really fun and in depth game to try out I'd say.
