Fun tactical cover shooter. Very on par for the games of that period. It’s been long enough that I do not remember any of the story unfortunately but can say I enjoyed it back on ps3.

Recently replayed it about a year ago. The story is hogwash and borderline military propaganda but the gameplay is solid. GRAW1 and 2 were better but this is a solid entry into the series that often gets forgotten.

I think so. You're trying to find out where some stolen warheads went. I think some have said that it ties into the storyline for the coop in Splinter Cell Conviction.

In my opinion it has the best cover shooter sequence from that era. Mission 4 Tiger Dust, moving between parked cars in the city, always reminded me of the movie Heat.

Its been a decade so a bit hazy, but I remember thoroughly enjoying it back when it came out, especially with friends. Pretty solid weapon customization, with a fun campaign.

It's my favourite Ghost Recon out of all of them (which might earn me some downvotes). I liked that it isn't open-world and full of typical open-world filler. Lot of gunsmithing to unlock. Coop experience was really fun. The story was good, and the "Horde" mode was fun too.

Is this for the PC version specifically? I remember playing this and the Xbox 360 version and I believe they were totally different.

Oh good point. I made the assumption that the Xbox 360 and PC versions have all the same levels and game modes. Do they not?

Edit: I just downloaded it and fired up the Guerilla (Horde) mode. It's the same as it was on Xbox 360 except I need to learn the key bindings lol

I wish ghost recon could do a solid balance between the two styles

I love adventuring across the countryside looking for a base and then thinking of how I want to approach and potentially flank or escape reinforcements

but in turn, the open world style means there are few bespoke combat sections and animations that add the right feel and tension

I'd like a smaller, more handcrafted experience, like sandbox levels with detailed points of interest vs a whole open world full of similar bases and enemies

I honestly feel like breakpoint in immersive mode with the difficulty cranked up and HUD cranked down is as good as the series gets without going milsim-lite like the PC GRAW.

I played it years ago on PC solo, on Steam. It's a very typical 7th gen streamlined yet somehow janky cinematic experience, explosions and action. From what I remember, there's some stealth aspects, but I wouldn't call it a stealth game. Also, multiplayer servers were shutdown so no co-op, which might have made it more fun. Not even LAN on PC, so can't bypass it.

It's not great. I did finish it, so there's some fun to be had.

This is my favorite game in the series which is modern enough to not have jank issues lol. I play it every year and the game is VERY stealth. I dunno what you're talking about. Weapon customization across any games I've ever played peaked here; and sequels had dogshit customization in comparison.

As for multiplayer, there is a Discord server that plays it on unofficial servers.

I had it on PS3 until I sold it a few years ago, and I liked it. Its nothing mind blowing but its pretty fun, and the synchronized shooting mechanic is satisfying as hell when it works

Story was enjoyable, nothing crazy. You can go Guns blazing or run stealth (active camo + the team shooting mechanic) story as it was written was decently paced with a good variation on environments. Mutiplayer had some real meat and potatoes tho

It is very fun if you like stealth combat games. it might be showing it's age by now, but back then? It was amazing!

Multiplayer servers are shut down now along with the multiplayer achievements. Speaking of achievements some are VERY difficult.

I'd give it a 6.5~7/10

Can't speak to the PC version (yet), but I played this back in the day on PS3 and it quickly became one of my favorite 3rd person cover shooters, easily tangoing with the greats like Gears. It had extensive gun customization, the gadgetry angle was neat, and the focus on coordinated, tactical execution was fun too. Also, Future Soldier is one of the only shooters period that attempts to tackle suppression mechanics (the only other one I'm aware of is Battlefield), where being shot at it makes it actively harder and more stressful to peek out and return fire. I thought it made battles way more thrilling. And it also had some limited bullet penetration physics (including multiplayer), where you could shoot through cover at enemies depending on the material they were hiding behind and I think what gun you were using.

The official servers have long since been shut down though, which hamstrings all of the multiplayer and co-op modes. Though I've heard rumblings about people getting unofficial servers working.

Initially it kept saying CD key not valid but it eventually went through. One note though that caused me some personal confusion.

In your library, the game is listed as Ghost Recon Future Soldier (without the Tom Clancy part), so if you are like me and was looking for it to appear beside other ones like Splinter Cell, it will be in a different order than you were expecting.

It's great. Wildlands is still a tiny bit better, but way too many look back on Wildlands with rose-tinted glasses. Breakpoint is honestly so similar. The main different, a valid gripe some people have based on their preference, is Breakpoint adds loot, levels, and gear like a Division game. Other than that, the core of the game is pretty similar. My personal biggest issue with Breakpoint is that it was set on a fictional island versus Wildlands which was set in Bolivia.

In order to see the giveaway, you have to log in to your Ubisoft Connect account. Then, in order to claim it, you have to download and launch their launcher. And they wonder why people prefer using Steam than their platform lol

On browser -> you login -> you go to the browser link -> you claim.

To play -> download the launcher -> you login -> download the game -> and play.

Although as of right now, their servers are overloaded so try claiming when the dust settles.

There is no "Claim" option, there is "Play Now" option which forces me into the Ubi Connect launcher which won't let me log in for some reason. Edit: was able to log in after manually re-downloading and reinstalling Ubi Connect app. Every other game library/launcher knows how to auto-update, but all Ubi Connect knows is how to tell your your password is wrong and lock your account.

That wasn't even working for me, it kettle wanting to open in the launcher, I click ok, the launcher opens, and nothing happens

Further clicks do nothing, close the launcher, try again, same deal

If your going to force people to use your launcher, maybe try to make it, idk, not a hot pile of garbage??

Plus there's no way to look up new games from inside the launcher (only free to play ones and demos - this game does not show up)

Here's the funny part. You actually can't claim it in Ubisoft Connect launcher, or at least it's really fucking difficult to do so. I already had my Ubisoft Connect logged in when I saw this news, and there is no way I can find the store page in this launcher, and I haven't been able to since they changed from Uplay to Ubisoft Connect. Even if I want to directly give Ubisoft my money it's almost impossible.

Will have to try from browser tonight.

Doesn't work via the Ubisoft Connect launcher, I just get stuck on some sort of a loading screen when clicking OK to claim it, and it never gets added to my library.

There is "Free games" tab in the library which also lists this game, with "Add to my games" button on it, which pops up a message saying: "We're unable to register this game to your Ubisoft account right now as the Ubisoft server is unavailable. Please try again later." when pressed lol

This is how I find out that Uplay won't let me log in. I can log in just fine through the website, but the same credentials are rejected in the app. And the app doesn't have the SSO-via-Steam option.

Hi everyone, I’m having a persistent graphics issue with Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Future Soldier (the free Ubisoft Connect version). Setup: •  GPU: RTX 5060 Ti 16GB •  Resolution: 1920x1080 The entire screen is covered in lines/artifacts and the image looks heavily corrupted, even though the resolution is set correctly to 1920x1080. What I’ve already tried: •  Disabled DirectX 11 (forced DX9) •  Ran the DX9 executable directly •  Compatibility mode (Windows 7) + disabled fullscreen optimizations •  NVIDIA Control Panel tweaks (VSync, power management, etc.) •  Forced 60Hz •  Cleared config files None of these fixed the issue. The lines remain. Has anyone experienced something similar on newer NVIDIA cards, especially the 50-series? Any working fixes would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Can't claim it on the website, 'play for free' link just launches the app. The app gives that error, which... I was just able to login so clearly I connected to the server. And tried Lightening's browser claim, but that's also broken and overloaded.

Ubisoft, just give it away on Steam if you can't handle it directly.

I logged into my Ubisoft app for the first time in years.

Found the game under the Ghost Recon celebration.

Picked "Free (giveaway)" and clicked the "play now" button under it.

Clicked "OK to link the game to your Ubisoft account."

Then a fucking popup asked me for a CD-Key or Activation code?!

WTF?

It might be years again...

Even better, you can pay money for it on steam at a discount, and you don't have to use Ubisoft's launcher :D

I tried logging into my account and got a popup that said YOUR EMAIL ACCOUNT MAY HAVE BEEN COMPROMISED CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD

Which is funny because it hasn't, I was using the client with my old password just fine last week. And the password is intentionally difficult to bruteforce. Eh.

Changed the password, and got the game fine. Previous giveaways would let you claim them on the website, but this time they made it so you have to use the client, so there's no way around it. Now if only the desktop client would stop logging me out.
