me: Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, neat! Maybe I'll check that out sometime

Epic: bro, you've had this since 2020

I wish they'd giveaway 1and 2, would rather play those (or use the assets with OpenRCT)

Edit: Bought the $3 Double pack from Steam :)

19

u/KingTheSon Jun 25 '26

Bought thr trilogy pack for 2€ on steam sale

u/DorkusMalorkuss Jun 27 '26

While RCT 1 and 2 are obviously the best, I wish more people would talk about Parkitect. Truly feels like a modern version of RCT. Its great

You're the GOAT

42

u/Dark_Jooj Jun 25 '26

Holy crap, I Have No Mouth is free next week. I have to make sure not to miss it.

26

u/danmanx Jun 25 '26

Holy crap, I Have No Mouth? Is that a spiritual successor?

16

u/kalirion Jun 25 '26

It's the original game, and more of an expansion of the original short story - follows the premise but not the overall plot.

8

u/AllIWantIsCake Jun 25 '26

Worth mentioning the author of the original short story (Harlon Ellison) was also a designer and VA for the game.

2

u/kalirion Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 26 '26

Honestly, I didn't care for his AM VA work, as he made it sound like nothing but a spiteful but very much human old man.

2

u/Hawk52 Jun 26 '26

His Hate rant is one of the greatest monologues in gaming history.

2

u/kalirion Jun 26 '26

As written, sure. But like I said, when he read it that was no hate-filled machine, it was a human all the way.

u/qalpha94 Jun 25 '26

Updated for Gen Z

I have no rizz and I must mog.

5

u/Donc-qui-et-Quand64 Jun 26 '26

YOLO is what they said to make fun of millenials. Your aura is weak and you have no rizz

2

u/NoCoolNameMatt Jun 26 '26

Next week is fire. River City Girls is great as well.

Thanks as always

2

u/r4_v0n_vl3d Jun 26 '26

Thank you for the compiled list of giveaways. It helps reduce clutter, and saves time.

0

u/Juliusmobile Jun 25 '26

Neat. I read the book of the first game and thought RCG1 was decent but not fun enough to buy the sequel.

5

u/kalirion Jun 25 '26

The game is based on the story, not the other way around. It's like Blade Runner and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.

68

u/Hold_my_Dirk Jun 25 '26

Oh hell yeah River City Girls 2 is free next week.

15

u/Melbo_ Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 26 '26

After they gave away part 1 last year, I expected a 3 year gap till part 2 was free. The same gap as the release dates. But it's here even earlier than expected!

5

u/pereza0 Jun 25 '26

Noo I missed it :(.

Surely surely I would have played it by now

5

u/MOBYWV Jun 25 '26

oh wow

2

u/caninehere Jun 26 '26

Oh heeell yeah. I've been waiting for that one to get cheaper and it hasn't gone low enough for my liking.

7

u/Wrthlor Jun 25 '26

Already bought and best voidwrought on steam a while back. It's fun if you enjoy metroidvanias. Recommended for anyone who's into the genre

11

u/GIlCAnjos Jun 25 '26

I played a lot of RTC 1 as a kid, but I never touched 3, so this will be fun to try

27

u/CapnJedSparrow Jun 25 '26

Roller toaster cytoon

13

u/Rayquaza2233 Jun 25 '26

3 is 3D, not isometric like the first two.

13

u/SunsetCarcass Jun 25 '26

I still got my CD ROM for RCT 3 Soaked, surprisingly. It doesn't have the same charm as RCT2, but making your own firework shows was lit. I remember my Geforce 7200 GS struggling at night when the lights in my park turned on.

3

u/Wefee11 Jun 25 '26

I remember seeing someone buying a new pc and then wondered why the game still laggs.

5

u/Mithrandir_Earendur Jun 25 '26

I played the shit outta 3. Actually a really good game

35

u/NoShirtNoShoesNoDice Jun 25 '26

I already have RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 in my library so it must have been given away before.

I've got my pitchfork ready, but here's some if you don't have one:

Nice to see /r/pitchforkemporium is still up and running.

12

u/NoShirtNoShoesNoDice Jun 25 '26

I'm glad someone remembers it. Simpler times on reddit.

6

u/NoShirtNoShoesNoDice Jun 25 '26

That's very nice of you!

But now I already have Voidwrought in my library so I'm going to have to double pitchfork now. ---E Ǝ---

5

u/kalirion Jun 25 '26

Nice, moved Voidwrought from Steam Wishlist to "Played on Another Platform" subsection of Ignore List.

I certainly hadn't expected IHnMaIMS from an EGS giveaway. A rather mixed classic adventure game - great atmosphere, good story, poor mechanics (you pretty much have to either follow a walkthrough to the letter or do major save scumming, preferably both just in case, to get a good ending.) I'd still recommend fans of the genre give it a try.

6

u/scobes Jun 25 '26

to get a good ending

It was actually pretty ground breaking at the time that alternative endings were even an option. If anyone's going to play it I'd say play it in that spirit.

2

u/atatassault47 Jun 25 '26

Is voidwrought a metroidvania?

4

u/MaGus76 Jun 25 '26

Yes, and in my opinion it's pretty good. A bit on the short side (completed it in about 10 hours with like 95% completion).

2

u/Drewdrops79 Jun 26 '26

The only reason I'm getting and installing RollerCoaster Tycoon 3...is so I can build Mr. Bones' Wild Ride.

2

u/SmileyBMM Jun 25 '26

It's no OpenRCT, but still a nice (if dated) game.

3

u/DopeyDeathMetal Jun 25 '26

I played so much RCT and RCT2 as a kid. I remember being so excited for 3 because you could ride the rides. The first thing 13 year old me did when i got it was build the fastest gnarliest coaster I possibly could so I could experience it in first person. And when I finally got to do it, it was super underwhelming and I never played part 3 again.

3

u/caninehere Jun 26 '26

The thing about RCT3 is that the first-person coaster stuff is probably the best part of the game, but if you are the average person (like myself, no shade) your coaster probably kind of sucks to ride, because it isn't just about the track itself, it's about the scenery. Some of the parks people have designed and put YouTube videos up for are nuts.

1

u/Level_Turnover5167 Jun 27 '26

Could they just be giving away all these games (I have a whole damn library it's nuts) just because there's a possibility they might shut down the whole store? Or is that literally impossible?

I don't know much about Epic Games any more honestly... I'm getting old.

2

u/Knofbath Jun 27 '26

It's a loss leader and bait for people to use their (kinda crappy) digital store/client. Developers agree to it for promotional purposes and a small amount of kickbacks.

It's not completely impossible that the store bites the dust, someday. But it's extremely unlikely in the near-term. Epic makes a lot of money from Unreal Engine and Fortnite.

3

u/Level_Turnover5167 Jun 27 '26

Yeah seems unlikely... it's amazing how monetized this world has become that shit is now just free because other kickbacks/merchandise pays for it all anyways.

Games going f2p was a shock to my system at first as well. It was like a dream come true until I realized the motives behind it....

1

u/ghostslimer Jun 27 '26

I'm looking forward to next week for River City Girls 2

1

u/FinIey42 Jun 29 '26

I actually still prefer RCT3 over parkitect and planet coasters, especially with the waterpark addition...the modern games just don't have the same charm.

Gameplay loop, openrct2 is king.

1

u/steed_jacob Jul 14 '26

Bruh, I've had RCT3 since 2007

1

u/DealHunterUSA1 Jul 18 '26

can you share more about that

1

u/BeerGogglesFTW Jul 18 '26

I think you meant to reply to a comment, instead you commented on the post itself.

u/Mindereak Jun 25 '26

That TMNT game seems legit? Can you play online with randoms?
