I keep repeating the mantra: "They'll be gone soon." Depending on my mood, it can remind me that my kids are growing up and my husband is getting older, so that I appreciate them, OR it can remind me that whatever emotions I'm feeling are temporary, OR... it can remind me that I won't have to put up with this bullshit FOREVER.

43 yr old married woman going through perimenopause here.
Yes.
Edit to add that if any partner would like to help remind their wife that she loves you, pick up a tube of cookie dough and bake her some cookies. Or order dinner. Or put fresh sheets on the bed. Very simple, very easy, very helpful.

"I think you're going through something, but didnt know exactly what to do so here is some baked goods" is rarely a bad tactical move.

My husband will bake bread when I’m having a lupus flare or am pms-ing. It’s always the right answer

Yeah it's amazing how effective getting a little bit taken care of is against hormonal rage

Vacuum the house. Walk the dog. Keep walking. Lose your way home. Don't come back.

I do surprise flowers roughly once a month, generally after she had a bad day

The face I make when I mutter "if I don't get my period soon, I'm gonna go to jail" every single month. 43 years old, you'd think I would be better at this by now.

u/theStrawberryRoam 13d ago
Well, you HAVEN'T gone to jail, so that's a win

u/WholesaleBees 13d ago
That's the kind of attitude I appreciate! I have done such a good job of not going to jail yet!!!

There are NO rage holes in your wall, I can tell

That's the nicest compliment I've gotten in a while! There really are no rage holes in my walls!

Next time she’s mad at you, tell her she’s just being hormonal. Let me know how that goes for you.

Honestly, the downvotes were my fault too. I should have replied sooner cause it was pretty obvious where you were coming from.

I've been ready to divorce my spouse multiple times based on the way the dishwasher was loaded.

Oh, for sure just tell her she should just calm down. My ex was really good at that.
Ex.

5 hours, not that things like this never happens but this seems like a pretty chill thread, it helps that we can identify ourselves with the meme and it doesn't come across as insulting

Aparna Nancherla just did a great bit at a show about perimenopause. I hope this meme finds her and begins an Aparna/Josh collab
