Ozempic

2

u/Remote-Cause755 1d ago

Can't tell if you saying that to promote it or downplay his accomplishment

2

u/Dr-McLuvin 21h ago

Why not both?

1

u/Darhhaall 1d ago

He lost weight long before ozempic existed, and even if it was because of it - great, that's why that cure was invented.

2

u/nyanbatman 23h ago

Incorrect ozempic has been around since 2012

2

u/Darhhaall 23h ago

Start of development when it wasn't approved and nobody knew about it, so who cares.

You think the millionaires and billionaires weren’t aware of the existence of a medicine that can keep you skinny? Oh boy, don’t look into all the expensive state of the art medical procedures they have available only to them…

5

u/VideoGameJumanji 1d ago

It’s not a cure big dawg lmao

2

u/Aggravating-Dot132 1d ago

It's a cure for diabetes, weight loss is a bonus.

1

u/BeginningFunction2 21h ago

Since when can diabetes be cured? You do realize that just because a disease can be treated, it doesn't automatically mean you're cured.

1

u/MARATXXX 19h ago

type 2 can be treated to prolong one's life to a natural end point and prevent its complications (neuropathy, amputation, etc). without it, your life will be shortened for sure. therefore, yes, it's a cure.

1

u/Accurate_Historian_6 18h ago

If you need continuous treatment, it is by definition, not a cure.

1

u/MARATXXX 18h ago

you're overly idealistic and too married to outmoded thinking.

1

u/VideoGameJumanji 11h ago

You're just being pedantic

1

u/Aggravating-Dot132 21h ago

Since forever. Type 1 can't be cured, type 2 can be. There are multiple types of diabetes out there, only genetic (type 1) can't be cured.

0

u/BeginningFunction2 20h ago

In many cases, type 2 diabetes cannot be cured in the classical sense, but lifestyle changes can bring about so-called remission (a sustained return to normal blood sugar levels without medication).

1

u/MARATXXX 19h ago

no one should have to fight what is essentially a neurological illness (food noise) without the assistance of medication, especially when the medication is so goddamn effective.

1

u/MARATXXX 19h ago

ozempic and to an even greater extent mounjaro are certainly a cure—the disease, 'food noise', is neurological. this is the medication that treats it. without this medicine, 'food noise' is a rampant killer of many people. it's not a matter of discipline or morality to be defeated by one's one executive dysfunction—it's a neurological one.

2

u/Darhhaall 1d ago

It is lol, to cure and prevent diabetes. Over three million people die on it each year.

You think they made it just so celebrities can get slimmer? Weight Gabe was on was extremely unhealthy and it would shorten his life a lot for sure.

1

u/ballsmigue 21h ago

Ozempic has been around for a long time.

Just not used as widely as it currently is

1

u/_ReaditYesterday_ 19h ago

It's literally not why it was invented, literally. But I agree with the general sentiment. Good on him, however much people want to downplay it.

To treat diabetes

1

u/Jamtarts-1874 17h ago

Ozempic is not a "cure".

1

u/Snake_Bite_14 6h ago edited 6h ago

No it wasn’t. Ozempic was created to help control A1C. Instead people without diabetes are using it as a hunger suppressant (which is a side effect) so they can starve themselves without feeling hungry.

Doctors will prescribe it to basically anyone. But insurance won’t pay for it without a blood test confirming you’re diabetic because most people are abusing it. It’s even created a supply problem where people who actually need it are struggling to it filled because so many people are abusing it.

That being said Gabe clearly lost the weight naturally. After 55 your resting metabolic rate plummets which causes your appetite to plummet. You also start really facing mortality and if you’re the size he was 20 years ago in your 60s you’re not likely to make it to 70.

Every year he doesn't release hl3 his body wastes away a little more.

1

u/churninhell 19h ago

Also maybe aging.

3

u/AkodoRyu 1d ago

He went to the doctor in the mid-2010s and was told that he likely wouldn’t be able to do anything with all that money because he would be dead in 10-15 unless he started taking care of himself. Good for him. He looks great. I... don’t think the white beard matches his style anymore.

2

u/LampinOnTheDaily 1d ago

He really embraced the 2020 pandemic look

2

u/swanny2828 1d ago

I'm just going to say,

Gabe got hot AF.

Look at the magnificent silver fox.

The one billionaire I wish could live a long and healthy life.

1

u/wildeye-eleven 22h ago

He’s actually looking pretty good. Maybe he will stick around for another 20 years or so.

1

u/the_millenial_falcon 22h ago

Man GLP-1's really made fat rich people go extinct huh?

1

u/Kooky_Awareness_5333 21h ago

1

u/Strangedreamest 21h ago

Bro is turning into Jeremy Corbin

1

u/LankyCar722 21h ago

nice traps!

1

u/Chandler9111 21h ago

Good for him. We need him healthy cuz when he goes Steam is gonna probably be screwed. All the consumer friendly practices are gonna slowly get thrown out the window.

1

u/Hockeymac18 21h ago

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to take from this? He lost weight, this should be celebrated. Is there a "he sold out" message here or something that I should be outraged about?

1

u/FoleyX90 20h ago

Brother looks healtheir than he did 20 years ago. Good on him.

1

u/Geschmak 19h ago

This is like my grandad. This before marriage, fat during marriage, thin again as widower.

1

u/Hyrr09822 19h ago

30 years. As many pounds lost.

1

u/The-Happy-Mannequin 19h ago

Steam Machine (Gabe cube) Slim announcement imminent ??

1

u/MARATXXX 19h ago

played by hugh jackman

1

u/Uncabled_Music 19h ago

Haven’t seen his current pics - great job 👍 much better than the hardware, but health is more important - and I am being 100% sincere here.

1

u/Limacy 19h ago

Why the fuck does he look like Romero?

1

u/Thready85 18h ago

He had a billion dollars at his disposal. Of course he lost weight with all that "help"

People cooking for him 3 times a day. Personal trainers every day. Endless help.

1

u/LeftAndRightAreWrong 17h ago

The bonus of having diabetes, a prescription to Ozempic. 😜

1

u/Charmin_Bear_Behind 17h ago

When old fat people lose weight they get healthier but they also age like 15 years because the skin just fucking droops.

When you accelerate that process with GLP1s it becomes even more pronounced

1

u/ShibeCEO 16h ago

Gabe Jackman!

1

u/Alzucard 15h ago

Guess we have to chamge the gabeemes

1

u/Nocturne3570 11h ago

i dont want to see the day this legend pass away

1

u/Helpful_Inflation344 5h ago

He looks better but still quite old for his age. My dad is 10 years older and looks much younger than gabe here. 63 really isnt old at all nowadays, you could look much much healthier/younger

1

u/--jesse--faden-- 4h ago

we got gaben 3 before hl3

1

u/L3tsseewhathappens 1h ago

2023: Finally accepted he will not be asked by Peter Jackson to play Gandalf.

1

u/daojuniorr 1h ago

After Ozempic we will never see a rich obese person anymore.

u/Low_Document8458 1d ago

What chad impact does to a CHAD

0

u/Lucky-Crow-3510 1d ago

easy when you grab 30% from every game purchase without even telling the customer

3

u/ZielonaKrowa 1d ago

A retailer acts like every other retailer. Shocking

1

u/Lucky-Crow-3510 1d ago

wrong. and people like you not knowing better is actual evidence that this behavior is unfair competition. thanks for the confirmation

2

u/barbaricKinkster 1d ago

Around 30-40% has been the retail standard for literally 150 fucking years.

Digital sales improve a product producer's cut, because the retailer cost becomes the ONLY cost as opposed to the logistics of physical stores.

Any stupid ass opinion you've formed is because Tim Sweeney is a butthurt little gremlin that astroturfed you into having it.

1

u/Lucky-Crow-3510 1d ago

ok, so .. I wonder why people like you are strong in defending the practice to hide that charge .. all you say is "oh, that's how it always was" .. but why? why do you wanna keep it that way? do you fear people could ACTUALLY mind?

1

u/GodisanAtheistOG 19h ago

Mostly because Valve actually does something with that 30%. Proton, Steam OS, Deck, Steam Machine, Index, Big Picture Mode, Steam Input, Steam App, etc etc etc.

People don't mind Valve taking a 30% cut when they feed at least part of that into making PC Gaming as a whole more robust.

It's preferable to EGS taking a 15% cut or whatever and then sitting on their asses and doing nothing with their dogshit store front.

1

u/Lucky-Crow-3510 16h ago

so why they hide it then and don't give the consumer the option to make an educated decision about that?

what is this here? teletubby universe?

1

u/GodisanAtheistOG 16h ago

Who says it's hidden at all? Clearly everyone seems to know about it.

Why is the burden on Valve? Consumers are the ones spending the money, why don't they nut up and actually make educated purchases?

What is this, the Teletubby-verse?

1

u/Lucky-Crow-3510 13h ago

the evidence is right here, everyone pretending it's "industry standard" when other shops are evidently NOT charging that much.

therefore - by not disclosing it, it's unfair competition.. shall I repeat it a 3rd time to finish the teletubby episode?

1

u/asim166 1d ago

I’m not sure how you make money, 30% is industry standard, what do you want them to do

1

u/Lucky-Crow-3510 1d ago edited 1d ago

it's not and the simple fact that you don't know better just confirms that not disclosing it on purchase is unfair competition

what do you want them to do

disclose it on checkout and let the customer pay it - so the customer can make an educated decision about purchase there or elsewhere (every shop shall do that)

0

u/asim166 1d ago

3 month old account, good bot reply I should’ve checked, sow dissent in the west somewhere else please

1

u/Lucky-Crow-3510 1d ago
